As far as I can see, considering the time wasted over the last (almost) 4 years, this is probably a best case scenario. Rail to Birtinya is definitely better than the original promised Caloundra, and although I wish it would be continued to Maroochydore, having a dedicated connection through Maroochydore to the airport is probably best case considering the circumstances. I hope that itās constructed with the capability of being converted to light rail in the future though. Also good that the LGCFR project is being built too and even though thereās elements of that project I wish were different, itās still better than what we currently have. And to extend the ETCS signalling all the way down and up the coast is an outcome worth celebrating! I do hope that along with the northern and eastern bus connections that the whole network is reformed for better cross town connectivity.
Iām not sure if the stadium is going to connect to Exhibition station or a new station is being built to service the stadium and aquatic centre. Would that even be possible in the corridor?
Victoria park is serviced by 3 busway stations on one side and two on the train line. But really think they could see if they do an infill between exhibitin & Roma Street to service the area if Exhibitionconnection is not lifting boundary restrictions.
A stadium in VP doesnāt do much from a transport legacy for Brisbane.
As far as I can tell from the website, thereās nothing new?

I am really pleased about this announcement today. It will be so good for the sporting codes as well as for the area around the RNA and Vic Park. It will also make good use of all the supporting transport infrastructure, which will soon come online as well.
Looks like they will definitely be transport legacy for the Sunny Coast.

Well OK, you please map out for us all, with detailed costings, exactly how not building a new stadium, was actually, in the end, a serious option?
The current Premier, myself (for one) and I suspect more than a few other Queenslanders all reckon weāve got enough stadiums in SEQldā¦the problem is, none of them are anywhere near suitable for the 2032 Olympic Games and to get them ready for the Games, is going to cause a mountain of financial and community pain.
The blunt alternate is, we can all roll our eyes, āblessā a certain now retired ex Premier and add real value to strategic region of the city and build a fit-for-purpose venue!
Where is the alternate existing venue - thatās fit for purpose and wonāt cost BILLIONS to deliver a ātemporaryā solution??

I agree a new stadium was necessary. Though I donāt like Vic Park as a location, but thatās a separate conversation.
I was poking fun at the Premier making an exceptionally stupid campaign promise that he was never going to keep.
Itās partly because of stunts like this that people are cynical about politics and donāt engage.

If they are serious about the location shown in the render then the busway has to be able to handle a 65,000 seat stadium turnover. I canāt see the busway even if you throw all the buses at it can do the job. Something has to give! Canāt see a new Spring Hill railway station being built! Exhibition too far away, Happy to be very wrongā¦please someone tell me it can be done. If not then busway has to be converted.

A busway might do a bus every 30 seconds. That might be around 15,000 - 18,000 pphd at best.
Itās not even close to 65,000.
Between a busway and a train station you could get close. So worth looking into a Spring hill railway station.

I think the whole pitch has too much roadsā¦like it is almost BAU which we have seen just delivers more congestion. Need to keep pushing the futility of widening roads to bust congestion. Every cent spent widening roads to bust congestion is a waste of tax-payers money
How are you gonna add in the infill station near the north portal?
I only can see is squeeze in near the land bridge but eh. Tight area to work with

New full time bus priority corridors to the East and North as per the Courier Mail. Maybe using the same priority approach tech as GLink on the GC, which would be good.

650m-700m from Exhibition stationā¦ Looks to be above groundā¦ Platforms would have to be near existing land bridge (for providing lifts support). ā¦ only concern is slope when southbound while train is loading/unloading passengers. Platforms gotta be ard 180m these days
The have two outer tracks that donāt connect to the CRR line. Therefore they could run shuttles from Albion and Roma Street.
Which can be used to shuttle to Roma St, Central.Station for transfer to other lines. Kinda like Sydney Olympic event feeders. But those are for express,maintainence,freight lines so any major events, itll need to be scheduled and time restriction in place. So
