The only big disruptor coming in 2 years will be the next local, State, and Federal elections all happening in 2028.
Expect the Olympics to be a main topic in SEQ Council and State elections policy campaigns.

^^I’ve voted for a couple already - The transport legacy one (coast to coast faster PT), bridge art projection, and 24 hour retail precincts incl supermarkets etc…

Yep operational costs set to blow out due to much greater regional spread of events.
Did they pay any attention to Victoria’s experience with that for Commonwealth Games?!

But Liveris conceded the Crisafulli government’s focus on spreading the Games across Queensland would hit Brisbane 2032’s bottom line.
While venue delivery was government funded, the running of the Games – originally $4.9 billion, for which Liveris and the Brisbane 2032 organising committee was responsible – would be funded through revenue raising, such as ticket sales, broadcasting rights, and commercial sponsorship.
Under the host contract, taxpayers could have to cover the cost of any operational shortfall beyond that budget.

“We had the bid budget and that bears no resemblance to reality, especially right now,” Liveris said.
“So we are working with the IOC on the revised budget.

“The revised budget, when we finish with that work product, will now have these new locations – the new locations of small villages – and obviously, transportation issues to get to those places.
“Those will be new costs that we have to work closely with our government delivery partners on.”
The last part is code for Goverment Department’s will have to cover more operational costs within their budgets, so it shows as in-kind on the OC’s budget and they still claim delivery ‘within budget’.
Which means Olympic operational costs will divert investment in other services in areas like….transport….

The Brisbane Green Grid

With most of the inner city roads closed off for the Games, the need for green lanes would be redundant.
The only feasible green grid would be the Albert St connecting Roma St to City Botanical., the rest are bus routes.
