Agreed, but in this case that might actually help anyone who hasn’t gotten the 111 to M1 memo yet.
Buses now making a right out of the QSBS to Quay St.
Turns out the 322 short runs to Bilsen Road have been extended to Toombul Interchange. It’s a small but welcome improvement from BNBN. At least now it provides connections into the City at Toombul Interchange.
The 330 now terminates all services at Quinlan St in Bracken Ridge as well instead of stopping one stop short at Barrett St every 30 minutes.
A Sherwood driver also told me that TfB was in talks with TMR to extend all 140 services to Greenbank at all times instead of running down there from Browns Plains in the peaks.
Not sure if it’s true but I’m leaving that here.
Yeah that’s been talked about for quite a long time, will probably happen sooner or later.
I really noticed this morning how quiet Cultural Centre Platform 2 has become in the morning peak with the reduction of northbound routes crossing the river - when my 555 came in to Platform 1 this morning, there was only one single bus, an M1, stopped at Platform 2. It was like what the station feels like on a weekend.
translink has finally, FINALLY uploaded the new 555 printable timetable.
The one for the 572 still hasn’t been fixed though…
Looks like the printable 572 etc. has been fixed.
School holidays so same on the roads.
Brisbanetimes: ‘Far from a disaster’: How Brisbane’s updated bus network fared in first working week
I had issues finding my stop in the city outbound yesterday as they have spread the stops across 4 stops. One stop is Adelaide Street for routes 301/300. The other routes outbound are spread across 3 stops on Queen St between Edward and Creek.
I also had someone come up to me while I was waiting for the bus and I couldn’t help her as I found it all a bit confusing.
Why cant the 338/346/347 leave from the same stop on Queens St?
Good to know it hasn’t been “Busageddon” like Wellington in July 2018!
A question for the bus specialists here - about UQ Lakes station.
There seems to be an inherent conflict in the design as stop F (the first stop when entering the station) is a designated stop for the 192 southbound but it is also used by many buses for disembarking passengers, some which wait there until it’s time to go to their stop to collect the next lot of passengers. When a metro bus is parked there, there’s no spare space for the incoming bus to stop for passengers, and the driver may have nowhere else to go if the neighbouring stops are full.
This is not a new problem of BNBN, it was happening earlier in the year when the P332 used this stop. One time I was waiting for the P332, it arrived while a metro bus was parked at stop F and presumably the driver couldn’t see the people waiting behind the metro bus, so did a loop of the bus station and left.
Now with more frequent metro buses, there are more in the UQ Lakes station at the same time and more chances that the bus scheduled for stop F will arrive while a metro bus is parked there.
So, to get to my question, I’m curious if there is any protocol for metro bus drivers about where they should park at UQ Lakes between disembarking passengers and collecting the next lot of passengers. I’m asking because it happened today when the 192 arrived and waited for a while behind the parked metro, but the metro bus had nowhere to go as a BCC bus was parked in the charging bay that he was aiming for. Fortunately, stop D was vacant and the 192 pulled up there, which then accidentally freaked the people waiting for the 192 northbound at stop C who ran to get on and then were flummoxed that this 192 would not go to West End. At the same time, the driver of the metro bus was striding over to complain about the regular bus parked in the charging bay, but I was on the departing bus and didn’t get to see how that played out.
translink isn’t offering a map of high frequency routes in Brisbane anymore.
Probably still figuring out what to do with the 175 etc
If they just increased the daytime weekend frequencies of the 125/175/185 they could reasonably call them high frequency. It’s frustrating for these services to be so close to good but not quite there.
The 185’s evening frequency should be half-hourly, with much more adequate Sunday operating hours on all three routes (6 am to 10 pm minimum) too.
There was a bit of Back to the Future this morning - the 569 I caught ended up stopping at the old location of Elizabeth Street Stop 82 down near Albert Street (although being behind 2 other buses put it back towards the Uptown Carpark ramp), rather than the new Stop 81 back towards George Street.
I wasn’t sure whether this was a case of the driver simply forgetting what stop he was going to, or whether there was simply no room at Stop 81, which I would consider plausible (by the time I realised, I wasn’t able to check) - I feel the bus stop shakeup has seen them combine a few too many bus routes at Stops 81 in what is a fairly limited section of road. Stop 145 on Edward Street has a similar issue, but much more road space to make use of.
Then, just before I walked around to work, I noticed a later 569 service coming down the road still showing the old P569 route number.
