Just tried (and failed) to do a cross platform transfer from a slightly delayed NAIP to RPSP train.

For those who don’t often venture up the Northside, the RPSP services stop all stations in between express Caboolture/Nambour stops.

For some ridiculous reason though, neither service waits for the other even if they’re only a minute apart, so in today’s instance we pulled in to Petrie on the express right across the platform from the all stopper which was about 60 seconds ahead… only for the doors to close as our doors opened.

As a result I now have to either wait 30 mins for the next service or try and attempt the reverse at Northgate. Entirely avoidable if the all stops just allowed a minute for transfers

I witness the same thing happening the opposite way out of the city (people trying to go from the Caboolture/Nambour express to the Redcliffe bound service at Petrie) all the time and it’s not uncommon for a bunch of people to miss the transfer by 30 seconds or less.

Ordinarily no problem, just wait for the next train, but with delays on Caboolture/Nambour line it’s slightly thrown everything off.

Wish they had some leeway to just hold the train for a minute or so.

Mind you, the show up on the Translink website.

So your telling me that every other suburban line except for the Shorncliffe, Doomben or Beenleigh lines run every 15 min? I get why the Beenleigh and Doomben line runs every 30min due to limited track capacity, BUT THE SHORNCLIFFE LINE? THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO GIVE THE SHORNCLIFFE LINE THIS ATROCIOUS SERVICE! That line can comfortable run every 15 min by extending the Northgate terminators to Shorncliffe.

</div>

I wonder if it’s a case of if you extend the Northgate terminators you lose the ability to get trains back onto the Cleveland Line to meet the 15 minute frequency, and Cleveland is more patronised than Shorncliffe.

> [@sherooda](#):

The Beenleigh line usually gets 4 tph in the peak direction. The current issues aren’t due to track capacity, they’re due to lack of operational train sets.

</div>

Well the Gold Coast trains running every 15min definitely seem like they do take up quite a bit of capacity on the Beenleigh line.

The Shorncliffe line on the other hand…

</div>

I think though it’s only possible to do that by utilising the full three tracks between Kuraby and Boggo Road. However, it’s not possible to run 15 minute frequencies with the current stopping patterns on a single track, meaning that counter peak and off peak are stuck where they are now until the LGCFR project is done.

I would like to see a shuttle between Beenleigh and Varsity Lakes running in between the full services to Brisbane in the meantime as the Gold Coast stations do get pretty busy all day.

What genius at Translink/QR thought it was a good idea to close Cleveland AND Shornecliffe this weekend for track work (excluding South Brisbane-Northgate but that’s served by every other line essentially so moot point)

There’s also everyone’s least favourite railbus returning, the _Banoon Railbus_

Im guessing the qr union action also involves cleaning trains. Theres a unit currently on the ferny grove to roma street runs thats covered in graffiti. The type of thing you see in documentrys of 1970s nyc.

Either that or they are so short on units that windows are now optional extras

Surely with closures like this you could run either a combined Ipswich/Springfield service from Corinda to Roma Street via Tennyson (and maybe have it stop at Boggo Road) similar to how when Beenleigh/GC late night closures they run via Tennyson to Roma Street

Yeah it seems like due to work around Clapham yard the loop is out of action or at least severely restricted to northbound traffic.

I do know that it has been used for southbound movements in the past couple of weeks due to signalling issues at Boggo.
