No, it wasn’t - I don’t think QR will ever be so crazy to include the words “rigid, TAG axle, artic, Metro” in an announcement ![]()
At the rate they’re going anything’s possible ![]()
Hopefully the parties can come to a resolution in the Fair Work Commission. If they don’t it is inevitable for more network disruption.
Meanwhile a quick scan of QR’s Facebook this morning has some punters complaining of crush loads already.
The Courier Mail article’s photos show some very packed trains (at least one photo is at Windsor, possibly both).
Nice to hear Mickelberg is fronting media allegedly this morning
Not too surprising, when services on the Beenleigh line have been cut by 50%, and services on the Caboolture line by 60% in the busiest part of the peak.
I don’t get why they’re running Shornecliffe at 30 minute frequencies in peak since Cleveland is still 15 minutes in peak.
Couldn’t you extend the Northgate runs to start at Shornecliffe?
Do we know if he’s actually spoken to the unions yet, or is he still refusing to?
I haven’t heard any outcome of the media conference - all I know is the CM reported he was fronting media this morning allegedly.
If it’s anything like recent days, it’ll be “unions this unions that we urge them to come to the table”
Happy to be wrong though ![]()
He was on 4BC this morning.
If you listen to the interview on 4BC this morning, he was at best evasive when directly asked if he had met with the unions re the issues. He tried to pass off meetings re bus safety but he has had no meetings re the Queensland Rail issues.
Looked at today’s timetable and yeah, I was bang on.
Airtrain services are not affected by the changes.
A spokesperson for Queensland Rail said it would give customers “as much notice as possible” if any further changes are made to the network.
However, they said union action would not shut down the network entirely.
Interesting point to note that AirTrain hasn’t been hit by the cuts.
Are we assuming there’s something in the contract which is forcing the government and Queensland Rail to schedule the NGRs more on that line?
Wonder what this also means for the future, if this stoush continutes?
…hooray?
QR presumably get penalised if they can’t supply services to Airtrain’s agreed specification, so I expect they would be prioritising that over levels of service on something they fully control (ie basically every other line on the network).
Not his job to meet with unions apparently.
The end of this story notes the Education and Health Ministers both met with the unions involved in those disputes before they went to the commission and reached agreements.
It seems to me the Government wants the dispute to continue to cause more disruption, so they can get in some more union bashing to go along with the CFMEU inquiry - build the public up for whatever big anti-unions laws they’ll inevitably pass.
Teachers and health care staff weren’t the best targets for that…
This guy has more excuses then a high schooler that forgot their homework.
It’s literally in the job description to organise our networks. Quit playing blame game and please talk with the unions.
Funny that… contractual obligation keeps the Airtrain line running.
Another unfortunate win for privatisation
