Ipswich to Gold Coast services

That’s the thing, I’m not arguing about the running express from Browns Plains to Loganlea - there are definite benefits there, and doing so doesn’t closely duplicate any routes other than the 545 which doesn’t service Loganlea Station.

I am talking only about the stretch from Loganlea Station to Loganholme, where it duplicates existing routes much moreso, and along which the act of running express really brings you diminishing returns. The 560 takes 24 minutes from the current Loganlea Station bus stop to Loganholme in the morning peak (that drops to 21 minutes from the current Logan Hospital/TAFE stop, which will service the new station when it is built). The 562, which skips Griffith Uni, does the same trip in 19 minutes from the current station, and 15 minutes from the Hospital/TAFE stop.

An express service from Loganlea to Loganholme would only save the ~5 minutes over the 560 by not servicing Griffith, and would save practically nothing over the 562. Google Maps gives an average driving time of 15-16 minutes from Loganlea Station (new stop or old stop respectively) to Loganholme Station.

This is where I see minimal benefit in running such a route, over investing in and improving the existing local routes. Loganlea Station is going to become much more of an interchange location in the future, and I see no harm in anchoring a cross town route to it over Loganholme, saving the route 15 minutes in additional travel.

Well, having public transport services that bypass a university located in a low socio-economic area is definitely not going to help it grow. There are master plan documents that plot future expansions, but I think between consolidating Mt Gravatt into Nathan, and renovating the Treasury Building into an inner city campus, Griffith probably have their hands full for now.

Yeh Altandi is crap but you have Mt Gravatt just around the corner. I say extend it there and then you can connect with trains, other buses and that bus that thinks it’s a metro.
