We can call it a Metro Bus, which is also the Sydney approach.
As long as I get to call ferries a ferry-train and trains a train-space rocket.
Also doesnât sound like resounding success in Sydney
â Since September 2023, only routes M90 and M91 remain but they have been operated with buses of various livery since the removal of Metrobus signage on Metrobus-liveried buses by their previous operator Transdev NSW.â
Doesnât mean it is right. Stay clear of â Metro â it is dumb. If it is BRT call it what it is. It was without doubt, wrong to stay with â Brisbane Metro '. There were some in BCC that wanted it changed to BERT or similar BTW. I would like to see BTQ take the lead on this and drop â Metro '.
Does anyone else want their 2c about the name or shall we resume discussion on where bi-articulated battery buses could be productively deployed in the Moreton Bay LGA?
Hapy to discuss where BRT using existing fleet and future bi-articulated battery buses could be productively deployed in the Moreton Bay LGA?
Id say west caboolture to bribie island shluld be a key transit line to consider for future should they plan bribie bridge duplication correctly
If anyone has capacity to start drafting a press release calling for:
- BRT (possibly using Brisbane Metro vehicles) from rail to Caboolture West PDA
- frequency boosts on Redcliffe and Cabo lines
that would be appreciated <3

Any proposal needs to have better train frequencies, especially on the Kippa-Ring line. Itâs a no brainer. The huge potential catchment areas of it (and the Caboolture line too) should be cause enough (they are still building houses around Mango Hill and Griffin AFAIK). So much more could be done with the buses. It might also help if the bus interchange at North Lakes wasnât a 5 mile hike from the shops either!
Redcliffe where I live isnât too bad internally but the service dies when the sun goes down. That and there are new parts of Newport that could probably do with a bus service (re-routed 698?). Another option would be some type of green bridge over the pine river for buses and active transport. If you could bypass the carpark on the highway and get a bus quickly to say Bald Hills, parts of Griffin and Murrumba Downs would have another viable transport option. Backtracking to the railway line can be a drawback.
I suspect they are imagining taking pressure off of Anzac Ave. There are certainly big road projects proposed for expanding Dohles Rocks Rd and other works.
I think the large and growing populations of Griffith/murrumba downs, mango hill/north lakes, and Kallangur/Dakabin should be far better connected and bus routes should better connect with train stations.
Speaking of griffin
Im.more keen for better cycling access from bald hills without need go 1+ hour detour via either stratho or clontarfâŚ
They havenât thought about an overall transport strategy. The expensive metro buses and seperated busway infrastructure is unlikely to happen in Moreton.
They havenât even got underpasses or overpasses for active transport users over Anzac Pde. Currently cyclists and pedestrians need to wait up to 6 mins to cross 10-12 lanes of traffic at some intersections.
Although they have a few electric buses running around which I caught last time I went to North lakes a few months ago.
The feeder services to the station from Westfield North Lakes are appalling late arvo/early evening from North lakes Westfield on a Saturday. There were only 5 people on mine and only myself and another paid. It also looped all around the suburb before heading down to the station. A 5 min trip turned into a 30 min one, missing the train I wanted to catch.
Here are the Volvo standard and articulated vehicles that Council and TMR should look at.
And this is exactly the problem I see constantly.
The politicians are usually motorists and undervalue intangibles like frequency and service span.
The challenges are thus framed as a lack of infrastructure / technology when a planning and service fix would do.
I feel we have a lot to do and a key role to play in educating decision makers on a service-first approach.
