You’re golden until you consider the impact on busway capacity of adding another high frequency BRT route to the already congested inner city busway, especially when it would be a new route that doesn’t result in the removal of duplicate services in the way that M1 & M2 do. If the proposed “Metro 3” line to Capalaba comes to fruition, that will mean you have 4x 3min frequency metro services running between Roma Street and Mater Hill, as well as everything else. I’m not sold on the concept of a Metro line to the Airport at all for this reason - it’s chewing up inner city busway capacity along a stretch that will be pretty saturated already.

I’d rather see some more connections to Skygate from outer transport hubs, along the same lines as the 590 (Garden City to Toombul - I’d also tweak this route to connect to either Cannon Hill or Murarrie Station). Then maybe another route between, say Hamilton, Ascot/Doomben, Skygate and up to Northgate? That could tie in with the Doomben Line, Caboolture Line and the Gold Glider when/if council get it online.

Also, make the GCL go via Skygate too.

I think the reality is bus capacity is already over stretched, so going forward the options need to be proper bus reform along with investment in higher capacity modes.

I really believe if the government was actually willing that they would be able to find the funds for at least some of the projects that are needed.

Red team did sit on their hands when it came to basic frequency upgrades. The off-peak train service upgrades came in under Blue Team from 2013 onwards.

It’s not clear why such an unwritten policy was pursued.

I’m also open to considering BRT conversion of the Doomben line, which I won’t elaborate on here, as it has its own thread.

Utility should be demonstrated not presumed. Let’s see a proper side by side business case covering both a conversion and upgrade in place option.

Any further Doomben line discussion please post here —> :slightly_smiling_face:

Regarding the LNP stab at ALP over the off-peak frequencies, whether you like or dislike them, they do have a point as the ‘Blue’ were the ones that introduced the Northgate and Cannon Hill weekday off-peak runs, plus fixing the earlier contra-peak issues with the Ferny Grove line when the ‘Red’ first introduced 15 min services to Ferny Grove.
