Queensland Budget 2025-26

The outer lanes on Ann and Wickham would still need to remain shared to allow traffic to turn onto side streets, like Brunswick Street for example, which might reduce the overall benefit of making them Bus Only.

As per usual, you are allowed to use a bus lane for up to 100 m to turn.

For Ann St, you could have a Bus Lane in the left lane until the Contance St intersection, then have bus jump signals, then making the right lane the bus lane so that buses can get to Valley Island easily.

I should have clarified, on Ann Street in particular there are a number of side streets all of about 100-150m apart from one another (some heavily used streets including Commercial Road, Chester Street, Wandoo Street and James Street) which could result in a lot of general traffic still ending up in that bus lane.

It’s not going down Ann, it’s going down St Paul’s Tce

So its not going via Kangaroo Point (Story Bridge) after all?

There is another new route which is part time from RBH via the Story Bridge. The Gold Glider is going via St Paul’s Terrace and Charlotte St.

No, it is not. Bcc is obsessed on sending buses to the CBD and avoiding transfers.

Thanks for sharing this. I like that it’s going to connect with Bowen Hills and Albert Street stations. I wish Bowen Hills would be upgraded, but that’s a side note.

I do think though that when CRR is online, there’s no point in running the service to Wooloongabba, as it’s literally duplicating the CRR line while providing no extra coverage or benefit. Once again, an example of duplicating a rail service that will have plenty of capacity as well as adding to the number of vehicles on the Captain Cook Bridge. I wonder if doing some sort of loop would be a better option, perhaps after it heads down Mary Street, run down George and then Adelaide Streets and back to Hamilton.

I also think that it might be worth considering terminating the service at Doomben station. It is such a short distance and allows better connectivity all round. Having said that, connecting at Bowen Hills is still a plus.

Another thought I had. Maybe even running the service past Doomben to Skygate.

While I like the idea of extending it back to Doomben, I wonder whether stretching it to DFO might be stretching an already long route a little too far…

Skygate has very little purpose outside business hours. One supermarket, that’s basically it.

Fair enough.

That should be the aim from day 1 as it provides connection to Skygate for the airport workers throughout the precinct as well as providing an alternative route to and from the terminals for passengers.
