Salisbury to Beaudesert passenger rail

Elva Street is a fraction of the size of the Sunnybank Plaza stop and is literally a slab of concrete and a J Pole - no seating, no shelter. It’s also in a position where an artic or two buses pulling in at once will block neighbouring driveways.

Elva Street is only serviced by the 123, 126 & 132, all other Mains Road services bypass it, and probably for these very reasons mentioned above.

OK, the plan here is the “Salibury to Beaudesert passenger rail” will see the 2044 delivery of a BREAKTHROUGH Road based rail-like service, known as “WaveLink” it’s new, it’s kooool and glossy brochures will be produced, showing smiling and laughing people getting onto a BREAKTHROUGH new rail-like banana-busPLUS+ technology! Yes, the brochures WILL include a picture of i) a mum with young children, ii) a seniors couple and iii) half a shot of a wheelchair in a “priority seating” area!

This incredible BREAKTHROUGH rail-like Road technology, will run multiple times (ie twice) in the morning (in BOTH directions [maybe]) between Salibury/Beaudesert and multiple times (ie twice) in the afternoon between the same points [maybe]. Obviously, no-one needs to use such a service after 6pm or on weekends/public holidays!

So get ready SEQ to jump onboard the BREAKTHROUGH rail-like Road technology that is “WaveLink”, powered by banana-busPLUS+ technology….it’s the bus that thinks it’s a train-bus-banana [and really needs to talk with someone professional about some issues soon]!

Queensland - the place where the above may turn out to have a lot more truth to it…..than you ever want to believe!

It’s the third largest Park ‘n’ Ride in the southern region after Eight Mile Plains and Greenbank RSL (and larger than all train station PnRs on the Beenleigh/GC line), with Translink saying there’s almost 700 parking spaces. In my experience, the car park is very well utilised on weekdays.

The public Translink O-D data for March 2024 shows 550+ people boarding per average weekday across all routes (probably busier during Tues-Thurs), which is pretty substantial. This would likely have increased in the last two years.

In terms of walk-up, there is a bit of medium density residential on the eastern side of Mains Road immediately opposite QSAC which would rely on that stop.

Ha - sounds about right.

Perhaps they should call it the BrownLink since it will serve Brown’s Plains. Also reflects the crappy quality of many PT projects in QLD…

If this pipe dream ever happens, I wonder if it’s feasible to connect up the lines by designing this new line via Tennyson. Have Doomben go express from Roma Street to Salisbury, stopping only at Milton and Indooropilly and then all stops to Beaudesert.
Would both benefit cross-town connections and rely on existing infrastructure like Tennyson rather than another new full line.

I think you’d have to have a flying junction at Sherwood for that to work properly.

Yea…. Sherwood, Rocklea, Salisbury all needs to be reconfigured to make it work

Would that be feasible to do with the current arrangement though?
Like surely that’s cheaper VS quadding to Boggo Road.
Isn’t Doomben expected to already go to Indooroopilly, so extending it down would be easier.

We offer a variety of modular sizes to match your cities needs based on our patented banana-busPLUS+ technology buses ‘vehicles’, as alternatives to existing rail options.

  • 16m - ‘arties’
  • 24m - ‘bi-arties’
  • 32m - ‘double arties’
  • 48m - ‘double bi-arties’
  • 64m - ‘quad arties’
  • 72m - ‘triple bi-arties’
  • 80m - ‘quin arties’
  • 96m - ‘quad bi-arties’
  • 120m - ‘quin bi-arties’

We also offer our rail-tram-metro-wheeled-electric vehicle thingies optional “heavy bus tram” mode which has full compatibility to operate seamlessly on any railway lines and with all gauges for you mass-transit solutions.

Our philosophy is simple - we don’t like rail. We aim to rid of wasteful mode and instead stick to 130+ year proven rubber tyre and asphalt bus technologies.

Our dream - to create a system and design that replaces buses mass transit modes such as light rail, and heavy rail with one universal standard bus ‘metro vehicle’.

In keeping up with the latest technologies, we are researching applications for our buses ‘metro vehicles’ in other markets. Research and development are currently underway into:

  • Ferry/boat (maritime) bus ‘vehicle’ capabilities
  • Flying (aerospace) bus ‘vehicle’ capabilities
  • Autonomous A.I. powered non-sense.

We are currently investigating the use of flying autonomous buses ‘metro vehicles’ in a world first, for use in Brisbane for the 2032 Olympic Games.

Not quite, I can see the wheels! :stuck_out_tongue:
Doesn’t look like a glorified train yet

Maybe they could convert some road trains into a “metro” too.

18 posts were merged into an existing topic: 2nd Cross River Rail (proposal)

After riding the Springfield Line for the first time today, I had an idea.
Why doesn’t TMR turn the Rosewood line into a Rosewood-Springfield Central Line and have the existing Springfield Line run to Flagstone/Beaudesert

I believe the terrain through the bottom or Springfield and back of Greenbank is quite hilly and would require tunnelling compare to the existing interstate line which has a corridor that would not require such works. Not to mention, I don’t think breaking an existing line like that is a great idea. But I don’t mind the idea of extending the Springfield Line through to Rosewood, if it’s deemed too complex to build Yamanto through to Ipswich as heavy rail. The alignment is much more conducive to higher speed operations than the Ipswich Line for trains running further west in future and the existing Ebenezer loop could potentially be repurposed and upgraded.

Rosewood line into a Rosewood-Springfield Central Line

As in, after you’ve extended the (existing) Springfield line to Yamanto you don’t head north to Ipswich but rather northwest through Amberley?

have the existing Springfield line run to Flagstone/Beaudesert

As in, loop around the back of Spring Mountain and then head southeast? That’s a lot of extra distance through some tricky terrain for no real benefit. The great virtue of Salisbury to Beaudesert is that it’s already a rail corridor.

I was imagining a setup of have Rosewood-Springfield Central could also eventually create a passage for an orbital line (make it eventually to Victoria Point, boom - Clevewich)

At risk of thread derailment, have the Rosewood-Victoria Point Line run:
Rosewood, Yamanto, Ripley, Springfield Central, Browns Plains, Loganlea, Cornubia, Redland Bay South, Redland Bay, Victoria Point (and crazy idea if they ever bothered, Thornlands and link it to Cleveland)

Despite the name, the purpose of the “Clevewich” concept was not primarily to provide single seat journeys from Ipswich to the Redlands. Rather to create further sectorisation in the network by creating a 4th dedicated inner city track pair, that just so happens to link the Ipswich and Cleveland lines. I don’t think an orbital line like you’re proposing would unfortunately be quite as useful  (although admittedly it’d be nice to have!)

One can dream of a line that links Cleveland, Beenleigh/Gold Coast, Ipswich and Springfield all in one

I think a line connecting Ipswich and Logan has some merit. I’m not convinced about Loganlea to Victoria Point.
