Queensland councils push for new Toowoomba passenger rail after federal cuts Inland Rail
Three southeast Queensland councils will ramp up pressure on the state and federal governments to fund a new passenger rail route to the state’s largest inland city.
Toowoomba Regional Council will look to get a formal proposal for a major extension to Brisbane’s current electrified network in front of both state Transport Minister Brent Mickelberg and Australian Infrastructure Minister Catherine King soon.
The plan, dubbed The Range due to its similarities to the Sunshine Coast’s The Wave, would see the Rosewood line extended to Withcott at the foot of the Toowoomba Range.
