Automated Voice Announcements

They’ve redone Roma Street I believe.
Before the blather about busways it now says
“Now arriving at Roma Street Station. This station has connections to all suburban lines and long distance travel-train services.” (then of course the TED Talk about busways.

I wonder if that change is done ahead of CRR opening with Roma Street being the only interchange point in the network for all lines.

Can they please just revert to the old announcement with less waffle: “Customers for the Ipswich or Springfield lines, Roma St busway station, or long distance services, please change here”?

I still find it funny that someone bullied them enough into adding it back into the automated announcements rather than the guards doing it (some still mute the thing at some station and read the old one out themselves)

Went on the Cleveland line today (its been a while) and sure enough, the verbose announcement rang out as the train embarked on Buranda station:

“Change here at Buranda busway station with frequent services to Brisbane CBD, Eight Mile Plains, and southern suburbs.” :sob::sob::sob:

Like I get that our City is very BRT reliant, but sometimes it feels like there are executives within Queensland Rail who’d rather have heavy rail succumb to council’s comparatively more ‘turn up n’ go’ bus and HESS metro fleet.

I find it funny whenever a guard or driver turns off the announcements before they finish and read out the old one. Like not even the employees like the change.
