Just drop in my regular 2c that these would be an excellent way to serve places like Gatton and Laidley or Flagstone at next to no infrastructure cost.

Some old SMUs and IMUs could be retrofitted with batteries for branch services to Gympie proper, Maryborough Central or even a restored local line to Yarrabilba from Bethania and Loganlea.
