17 Feb - District (School) Services
- Explains planning process for council’s “school” district services
- State school are primarily based on catchment while Independent/Private trips are only to prevent overcrowding on regular services
24 Feb - HASTUS
Always my favourite topic seeing behind the scenes of their scheduling system.
Network Scheduling:
• Optimisation of network-wide and local depot vehicle and crew allocations
• Development of base rosters
• Driver run cards
• Scenario testing and cost estimation for network change proposals
• Updates to public timetables
• Establish and maintain data interfaces between HASTUS and other systems
• Provision of network data
• Testing activities for upgrades and improvements to HASTUS software and hardware
What do we use HASTUS for?
• Live schedules
• Base rosters
• Daily vehicle and driver schedules
• Scenario testing and cost estimation
• Rules and parameters to meet Award, Agreement and legislative obligations
• Interfaces with other systems and data reporting
• Public information

The future of HASTUS
• Next upgrade in 2027 or 2028.
• Algorithm enhancements, machine learning, AI.
• Greater visibility of key cost elements in schedules.
• Improve electric vehicle scheduling functionality.
• Web views and improved user experience.
• More usable NetPlan module.
• Opportunities for 2-way integration with other systems.
• Manage short notice temporary network disruptions.
• Improved automation of vehicle and crew
allocations on day of operation.
• Cloud hosting?

I wonder if this future upgrade “Manage short notice temporary network disruptions.” will mean that data feeds get updated with more disruptions rather than relying on text based service-updates (Noting the seperate need for GTFS Live trip ammendements)
