Agree with the sentiment, but we have in both council and state government a party that enthusiastically went into elections on a platform of tearing up bus lanes that already existed. They’re not building any more.

Something I’ve noticed that I think needs urgent fixing is the gilchrist avenue/Inner northern busway interface is to have the busway become a permament green/priority unless theres a rare vehicle or pedestrian requiring to cross. Theres absolute no reason a bus should have to stop there now. I think an issue is due to automatic sensors being activated by the traffic control vehicle and signs that are now a permament feature there now.
I suspect that, after the Victoria Park Stadium is completed, Gilchrist Avenue will largely cease to exist past the busway, so that will likely end up effectively being implemented.
However, as the construction stage ramps up, I think we can expect to see a substantial increase in the amount of construction traffic accessing Gilchrist Avenue, which will likely prevent any implementation of busway priority in the meantime.

To clarify - anytrip is using Open Street Map - they don’t create the maps. The thing with Open Street Map also is that anyone, even you and I, can make modifications.

That could end up causing confusion!
Good to see decent span of hours during the week. Would have been nice to see these routes being half hourly all day and not just during peak, but better than all day hourly.
I am very impressed though that printed timetables (PDF) have already been completed and are online!
Should be a nice little earner for Logan Coaches.

From what I was told Transit Systems was supposed to do these services but something happened in the process that made said operator fail to deliver.

It’s a pity some existing routes couldn’t get a similar span of hours.
Last 560 eastbound, weekdays: 5:47 pm. Sat: 5:47* pm Sun: 4:47* pm.
- not full route, terminates at Loganlea station. Last full route to Hyperdome departs 1 hour earlier.
Last 588 eastbound, weekdays: 8:10 pm. Sat: 7:31 pm. Sun: 5:35 pm.
Weekend westbound start times on the 588 are pretty rough, though. Sat 8:55 am, Sun 9:15 am.
I also question the wisdom of not having the same timetable Saturday and Sunday, even if some earlier/later services are cut.
588 services depart Loganlea at :55 on Saturdays, and :15 on Sundays.
Depart Browns Plains at :31 on Saturdays and :35 on Sundays. Why??
Similar story on the 589. Departs Logan Village at :37 on Saturdays, :00 on Sundays. Loganlea departure times are the same both days, though.
Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the introduction of new services to previously underserved and unserved areas, I’m just wondering why the timetables are made with these strange variations.
ETA: Also, I’m wondering how 588 will turn around at Loganlea station.

588 & 589 bus/rail connections.
AM & early PM 588 arr Loganlea Station :09 :39.
Inbound express train departs :19 :49. 10 minute transfer
Inbound all-stops train departs :29 :59. 20 minute transfer. Once the full train timetable comes back, this will be :14 :44, so a 5 minute transfer.
Outbound Gold Coast trains dep. :10 :40. Chances of making the 1-minute connection (have to cross to the opposite platform) are basically zero, so a 30 minute transfer. All stops Beenleigh trains :59 :29, 20 minute transfer.
After 3 pm, 588 buses arrive :05 instead of :09, so transfer times become 4 minutes longer. Transfer to Gold Coast train becomes theoretically possible, but borderline.
588 dep Loganlea :20 :50
Gold Coast trains arr :10 :40, 10 minute transfer.
Beenleigh trains arr :29 :59, 21 minute transfer (reduced to 6 minutes once normal timetable is back online)
Inbound express trains arr :19 :49, 1 minute is essentially impossible, so 30 minute transfer
Inbound all stations trains arr :29 :59, 21 minute transfer
Conclusion: not too bad for people wanting to use the bus to access Loganlea station for express travel to/from the city. Quite awful for anyone wanting to access local trains in either direction, and the absolute worst for those wanting to travel to the Gold Coast.

589 dep Loganlea :20 :50 (:45 until 2:45 pm, but I’m looking more at standard commuting times here)
As these are the same departure times as the 588, the same transfer times will apply.

It’s almost impossible to provide people in both directions with a reasonable transfer time all day, until they start running each train line at a 15 minute frequency or better all day.

Going back to this: are they gonna operate the new services only with the current fleet of 6 buses they have? Seems rather short.

Transit Systems are using state-owned buses to operate their services, I imagine additional buses that were going to be supplied to them for the Logan routes have simply been reallocated to Logan Coaches instead.

There are at least 3 additional buses, likely B8RLE/Optimus - but that is not confirmed at this point. I don’t believe they are TMR buses however.

I’m on a 588 right now. Left Browns Plains a few minutes ago. It’s a coach, not an urban bus, and there’s no ticketing equipment installed. Strange.

From what I can see Logan Coaches had to take buses on loan from Caboolture Bus Lines. @James00 anything you can share with us?
Fairly sure this was a Logan Coaches vehicle. It didn’t have the signage yet (very new), but it had the Logan Coaches paint scheme.
