1. Purpose
The purpose of this bylaw is to ensure that all media and artwork used, published, or distributed by Better Transport Queensland (BTQ) is legally compliant, appropriately licensed, and respectful of creators’ rights.
It establishes clear responsibilities for BTQ members and forum users when contributing or sourcing media for organisational use.
2. Scope
This bylaw applies to all BTQ members and all users of the BTQ forum when publishing, posting, or distributing any media or artwork on behalf of Better Transport Queensland.
This includes, but is not limited to, forum posts, social media content, website content, blogs, and media releases.
3. Licensing and Use of Images
All images used by Better Transport Queensland must be appropriately licensed for BTQ’s use.
Where a personal image is provided or uploaded for the purpose of use by BTQ, the contributor grants Better Transport Queensland Inc. a perpetual, non‑exclusive licence to use, reproduce, and publish that image for organisational purposes.
4. Use of Third‑Party Media or Artwork
Images or artwork sourced from third parties may only be used where:
- BTQ holds a valid licence for the material; or
- the material is explicitly released for public use, such as government‑issued renders, diagrams, maps, or publicity materials; or
- use is permitted under applicable fair dealing or fair use provisions, including use for commentary, reporting, criticism, or public information.
5. Compliance With Copyright and Usage Conditions
In all cases, BTQ must ensure that the use of any media or artwork complies with:
- relevant copyright law,
- any usage conditions attached to the material, and
- any attribution requirements specified by the rights holder.
