Looks like it will only take about 1 and a half years at the very longest to complete construction. And they say that it won’t be open until 2029.
He is really thorough and has done a CRR video last year. I wonder if he will do Roma Street as well
We will probably find that the Roma Street station realm will be taking shape from April next year. I also expect platform 1 to be operational for the buses by then too.
The massive awning on Albert Street Station is starting to be installed.

The Vic Park and Ekka construction sites/depots have been pretty much cleared out and cleaned up.

We could see that whole area opening up along Albert Street by April, once the awning is up and in place.

Wow, the frame is going up quick ![]()
So apparently, the Melbourne Metro tunnel is going to open early ![]()
National Rail Safety Regulator signoff mentioned.
We’ve had a bit of discussion about when CRR might be opening, any thoughts?
Different set of circumstances.
There has been already lots of discussion of the why and why nots

QR training hundreds of new drivers to avoid another epic rail fail
Its been almost a decade since hundreds of train services were cancelled after the opening of a new rail line, with the saga culminating in revelations that Queensland Rail did not have enough drivers.
With Cross River Rail launching by 2029 – a new 10.2 kilometre rail line, including four new underground stations – Queensland Rail is working to train hundreds of new staff to avoid a repeat.
Breaking - As from today the Cross River Rail experience centre has changed their name to the Future Rail Experience Centre. Furthermore, the centre will no longer be open to the public from December 19 as it will be only for industry and associate stakeholders.
I found the centre really inspirational and educational overall, it been a great community asset over the years.
Apparently, they do have someone similar on Sunshine Coast for the Wave project which will remain open.
Will pop in before then!
The Queensland Government loves to change structures and logos.
Or maybe they are refactoring the experience centre for future rail projects as CRR is almost coming to completion (still vouching on the 2026-2027 opening).
That’s the idea for industry and stake holders. I think it’s a great initiative going forward to help modernise and expand the rail network.
Looking snazzy!
