Honestly, I’m glad they’re erring on the side of too many buses - better than underestimating the number of passengers
I wonder how the park n rides along the SE busway will cope? Also how busy it will generally get

A slightly strange journey plan for tomorrow. The service notice says trains are travelling via Exhibition, yet somehow the train from Beenleigh is continuing to Ipswich? I understand there’s no Ferny Grove service, but I would’ve thoughts train from Beenleigh would terminate at Roma St and turn around there. Apparently trains from Caboolture are terminating at Roma St. The map makes it looks like the northern lines are continuing to the southern lines via Exhibition, but I guess that’s not practically possible unless they either bypass or turn around at Roma St anyway.
Train on the Cleveland line on Saturday did similar. Terminates at Roma Street and turns in the opposing direction (Cleveland → Roma Street → Springfield)
The 404 from Rockhampton goes all the way to Cairns City according to translink…
Quite a few cancellations in TSV this afternoon, mostly due to staff availabiity.
In relation to track inspections does QR have the equivalent to this?
I’m hearing reports of a bridge collision (Moorayfield) on the Caboolture line. Services are suspended until further notice.
Helping some people from Northern NSW navigate from GC to Brisbane this afternoon.
Good news is I was pleased to see rail replacement buses show up in journey planner for GC line instead of train services.
Lost me when I sent them the timetable link for R772 and had to explain about clicking Upward and Downward to change between to/from Brisbane/Gold Coast. Not only is this terminology not clear to vast majority of travelling public, its also not at all obvious that they are labels for the function to switch timetable directions.
TransLink should not use these terms anywhere. Even when trains are running they have no linkage to any signage or announcements people will see or hear at the station. You don’t arrive at the station and look for the Upward Gold Coast Line train…
My biggest thing about Up and Down is they’re opposite of what’s actually up and down in the real world. You wouldn’t say up to the Gold Coast or down to the Sunshine Coast in real life.
I get the legacy issue behind it, but if for no other reason (and there are plenty of other reasons) it doesn’t make any sense to use publicly.
“404: Not found”
TransLink’s response to my feedback:
The route descriptions that are used on the rail replacement buses (upward and downward) have been designed to replicate the train timetables that are supplied to TransLink by Queensland Rail. The naming conventions for the directions comes from Queensland Rail.
This has been done so that bus timetables for rail replacement services match as closely as possible, in terms of directions, the impacted train timetables.
QR adopts the following conventions: Services from Varsity Lakes towards the CBD/Airport are Downward whilst services travelling from Airport/CBD to Varsity Lakes are designated Upward.
Ignores the issue is the use of the upward/downward naming at all - not that train and railbus timetables should be the same or not.
Blames QR for that’s how they provide the information.
If TransLink don’t see themselves having any role or responsibility in helping make the information accessible to the general public then they may as well walk out the door.
Feedback to QR - you get told it’s TransLink’s responsibility.
Feedback to TL - you get told it’s QR’s fault.
This system is so broken.

Not sure of the relevant thread for this, but from tomorrow marks the opening of the Beenleigh & Gold Coast lines back to regular service after the last month of so of horrendous on-off closures and railbuses
Took a train to coomera yesterday. I genuinely have no idea of what they were doing during that massive rail shutdown.
Only thing I noticed that had changed was Salisbury station being fairly close to being finished and a reballasting/ ballast clean on a 1km section of the gc line. A few small bits amd bobs elsewhere.
I expect significant works like entire track realignments to be completed during such a long track shutdown.
Could it have been signalling related?

Don’t the endless track closures resume from next weekend IIRC anyway?
I hope they’re gone for summer or my beach daytrips may be done for
Not according to the QR page.
