Gympie Bus Review

Overview

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is reviewing Translink bus services in Gympie and would like to know how you feel about proposed route and timetable improvements.

Whether you catch the bus regularly, occasionally, or not at all - TMR wants to hear from you.

Your feedback will help meet your transport needs and get you where you need to go.
About the proposed changes

TMR is proposing changes for the existing Gympie bus network (including routes 760, 761, 762, 763, 764, 765, 766, 767 and 769) and the introduction of some new services for growth areas.

Each route has specific changes but overall, the aim is to deliver:

improved service frequency
Saturday services and extended hours
greater network coverage (new and adjusted routes)
more options to reach key destinations
better timetables and more reliable journeys
less service duplication - so we can reinvest where buses are needed most.

A key focus is to improve network coverage in the growth areas of Southside and Gympie North and increase service levels in Gympie Central.

TMR will continue to review demand in Rainbow Beach, Tin Can Bay, and Cooloola and investigate service improvements for these regions as part of future network reviews.

Great post! Anyone from @working_committee or on the Sunshine Coast interested?

Thanks for posting, hadn’t had time to post it myself.

I would like to see changes to allow connections to Tin Can Bay and Rainbow beach from Gympie North, currently there is not connection from the rail station.

Agree, there absolutely needs to be a proper scheduled connection between Gympie and Gympie North, I understand that there’s currently a QR bus service that runs between Gympie and Gympie North, but there’s not much information around about it, and I wouldn’t have a clue personally if the bus is fully accessible and what time and where it departs from in Gympie itself. TL needs to put in a scheduled service, where it’s easy to find information about which service it is and what time it departs and where.

Given the increase in patronage in Gympie from what was reported yesterday, I do wonder if Gympie should aim for minimum hourly, to even half hourly services on some routes? Although, I do know according to my contacts, there is very little money available to upgrade the network, my guess is that Gympie 's Southside is getting lucky with even having a proposed bus route through there (although I’ve identified a route that isn’t what has been proposed).
