Is it realistic to extend all the platforms along the Rosewood Line and then permanently merge it with the Ipswich Line. Though currently little used I can see a lot of development happening out this way in the future. In fact it’s already started happening with new estates being built out there
Probs not worthit without extend line to Toowoomba via new inland rail sections
One thing I would probably like to see is a rosewood super express service in the mornings and afternoon. Like milton, toowong, indro, darra, goodna, ipswich only. Maybe one right before and right after the main peak periods.
The main other thing taht would improve the rosewood line is simply changing the 25km/h point at rosewood to a 50 or 60 km/h. It’s on a straight so it would be easy to do. Have no idea why QR put up with slow points that get frequently used when it wouldn’t be too hard to upgrade it to a higher speed.
Deleting Thagoona and Karrabin stations would substantially help the line imo
I think there is enough housing now and coming soon around Thagoona that its a worthwhile station. Karrabin is more interesting, because that hill isnt currently in an urban or future urban zone, which I suspect has a lot to do with the airbase. So it may never have much of a local catchment.
However, Karrabin station is in a good location for a park and ride for people on the Warrego / Brisbane Valley Highway that want to go into Ipswich itself. There’s no need for that now because you can park in the Ipswich CBD, but give it 20 years as the CBD / inner city densifies that may not necessarily be the case.
If (big If) we eventually get an express pattern between Darra and Ipswich (for the hypothetical Toowoomba/Without route) it also becomes potentially preferrable to park and ride there than at Dinmore.
