Inner suburbs loop

I first thought of this idea quite a while ago, but never took the time to create a real concept. Looking for something a bit larger than the City & Spring Hill loops, a lot smaller than the GCL, for travelling between inner suburbs (Fortitude Valley/Kangaroo Point/Highgate Hill/South Brisbane/Petrie Terrace/Spring Hill) without travelling through the CBD.

Left side is clockwise, right is counterclockwise.

Thoughts on this? Does it have merit? Should the loop be larger, e.g. avoiding Spring Hill and going via Herston/Kelvin Grove instead?

If it is to serve Kangaroo Point, it should probably do the loop under the story bridge to service the stop outside the Kangaroo Point Hotel.

I think it would be a good service though. It is surprisingly difficult to get around the outer CBD suburbs.

Clockwise including Story Bridge Hotel stop.

Counterclockwise including Story Bridge Hotel stop

Somewhat longer route via Herston and Kelvin Grove instead of Spring Hill

Clockwise

Counterclockwise

I like the longer one taking in Butterfield St - that should be coupled with deleting the 364 and rerouting the 360 and 361 to make them more direct (maybe via Normanby and Spring Hill).

I personally prefer the via Spring Hill version, as I feel that the via Kelvin Grove route could be heavily impacted by traffic during peak periods, and the “Spring Hill Loop” really doesn’t cover that much of Spring Hill IMO. That said, I wonder whether a better alternative to using St Pauls Terrace, would be to run it down Water Street instead. Turn left out of Water Street > Boundary Street > Leichardt Street.

I Don’t like the western parts of either of these since there is very little between william jolly bridge and gregory terrace. The kelvin grove one i like more because of the links it provides kelvin grove as a cross town route.

Those loops aren’t new. They were considered by Translink when they were considering the Spring Hill and the City loop.

I would like the City loop, loop back from Warner Street in the Valley though.

The original City loop was going to include Upper Roma Street servicing the Quay Street precinct.

Build them as an underground “subway”!
