Japanese systems are the very model of smart use of infrastructure. If we had that skill and approach we could get Brisbane trains to metro like frequencies Brough much of the network.

7NEWS Just in 2025The Royal Family’s private train, used for over 150 years, will be decommissioned in two years to save money. The train, once seen as a luxurious and environmentally friendly mode of travel, has become outdated and costly to maintain, with the monarch now preferring to use helicopters for transportation.
As someone who lives in NZ, Auckland has come a long way, although things were far more dire here than any Australian city was (I believe annual rail patronage for the whole city was about 2 million in the early 1990s.
It was terrible before electrification and the active transport push.

Not quite. Pakistan is using guided buses (albeit bi-articulated). Brisbane has bi-articulated buses. Be interesting to see how they go in the longer term in Pakistan.
