Introducing Translink Services between Toowoomba and Brisbane

In the grand scheme, I’d be happy to take anything, even if it were modest like an extension of the existing Helidon bus route (plus maybe a couple of extra daily runs). That would at least facilitate residents in the Lockyer Valley to have public transport options if they need to travel to Toowoomba to access services that may be provided there (such as outpatient and specialist medical services).

There may be merit in having such a service extension going as far as Toowoomba public hospital, which is a little bit south of the city centre (especially services arriving in Toowoomba around 8-10am and ones departing mid-late afternoon). Gatton Hospital has limited services (e.g. limited oncology and no direct administration of chemotherapy) and I’m not sure how they might divide patient loads between Toowoomba and Ipswich for the range of services that might need to be provided.

With the scrapping of Inland Rail, and therefore the possibility of commuter trains anytime in the near future, I thought it might be time to revisit this.

I still think the 539 should be extended to Toowoomba at a minimum.

The other thing is a coach from Toowoomba to connect with a train somewhere in Ipswich.

I’m not a big fan of the CBD because of how long it takes to get in and out of.

Not a fan of Riverview due to limited bus connections, so that leaves Redbank or Goodna. I’d be happy with either.
