Could BRT like Brisbane Metro, Sunshine Coast Wave or the GC Surfer be feasible for other regional cities such as Townsville and Cairns.
If so, then a metro from Thuringowa to the CBD via JCU would be nice for Townsville.
And then for Cairns, another metro can run from Mount Sheridan to the Airport via the Cairns CBD.
Having a decent normal bus would do far more than a fancy vehicle running at insane frequencies.
Cairns doednt even have go cards yet. Thats how far behind public transport in the regions is. Get the basics done right first. A couple of core routes running every 15 minutes 7am to 9pm.m 7 days a week.
Yes, the Brisbane “Metro” is running over long-standing high frequency routes using more traditional buses. That’s the way to go. Always focus on frequency first, as that has the biggest impact on how useful a service is.
