It seems that missed this news but it looks like Darwin and Palmerston now have live bus tracking, apparently Alice Springs is coming later or it might already be the case by now considering that this article is a month old.
This is good, I don’t have a car but I am planning to visit the NT in a few months for the first time, if I go through with it I’ll report back with my experience.
