Opal upgrade brings contactless concessions to bus passengers
Bus passengers across New South Wales are set to benefit from a major Opal ticketing upgrade, with nearly one million concession and senior travellers soon able to access discounted fares using contactless payments.
Wow it’s all happening in NSW with new next generation ticketing.
Plus automatic fare adjustment that we are meant to be getting as well. It works by predicting where you Re likely to have tapped on or off.
^^When I was in Beijing last year they also had automatic fare adjustment which was a godsend. Especially as E glish is not the first language over there.
I was accidentally overcharged when I tapped my phone on a gate. It reversed the trip as it was only a transfer in the end.
It also happened in The Netherlands last Christmas as I used a QR code to exit the gate but it charged my card at the same time. But the next day it reversed the charge on my card as it must have known I used the QR code to exit the gate at the same time.
Internal PIDs will be installed on 5000 buses
