I took the advantage of the opportunity this evening and tried Exhibition Station for the first time with the track works shuttle service.

Decided to bus up via RBWH to walk in which was suprisingly complicated and I ended up missing the train I was hoping to get even after having allowed extra time for exploring.

After painfully surviving the 3 segment ped crossing, I tried to enter the station via the O’Connell Tce access road only to find the area fenced off.

I was hopeful of a detour but the signs seemed to just point to the carpark of which the far side also seemed blocked.

Expecting to have to do the full block to Gregory Tce, I was pleasantly suprised to see wayfinding at the Herston Rd/Bown Bridge Rd intersection (Didn’t get a photo)

Secondary wayfinding:

The path from the bikeway junction to the station has had a bit of attention to it but as a long narrow path doesn’t give off the greatest vibes.

The other side of the station wasn’t much better for access.

Back to the station. None of the PIDs were showing train trip information, either the time, general QR ads or one showing a notice about the shuttles (Didn’t get a photo). The station was very heavily staffed with at least 6 staff, probably closer to 10, between the two levels.

IMU 124 at Roma St after 17:50 trip (run J9W1):

PIDs were very functional for the shuttle still showing the trip as due in 1 minute, 10 minutes after it had departed.

To achive the 4 minute turnarounds they were doing 2 guards and 2 drivers with one pair doing each direction and riding back the other way. Spoke to one of the guards at Roma St and had done 2 trips (I assume that means 1 return - i.e. 17:40 start but could be 17:20) and will go until the service ends at midnight).

Loads on the services I saw were very light with at most a handful on.
