Sometime at around 4:30pm, I saw a 6-car 60set Shorncliffe train at Bowen Hills. one problem was the trailing unit was completely empty with all lights off, all the door buttons has a ‘Locked’ sticker on them. Meanwhile, the leading unit was absolutely packed.

Even more stupider, the 60set was a refurbished one.

You know, I saw a train having a similar issue recently on Tuesday (unsure of the model, but it’s definitely not an NGR set) on a Ferny Grove train (the 5:18pm one I believe)
Wonder if it was the same one

So many of the trams are just completely advertising billboards.

Train numbers must be very tight!

Even considering that there were numerous delays due to ‘train faults’ earlier on.

I guess that some of the rollingstock have been stent for repairs, leading to a reduced fleet.

Furthermore, why couldn’t they have that train as a 3car service. It’s better than having a 6car service with one unit not even functioning.

Agreed. Perhaps they didn’t have time to uncouple the failing unit.

Definitely seems to be rolling stock availability issues, I just heard 2 trains back to back announced as 3-car during peak which sounds like a shortage to me!

3 car train up to Kippa-Ring this eve @ 4:30 pm

Pretty sure I caught this one on its way back to the city, looks like an NGR was originally rostered and the 3-car was subbing in. A bit unfortunate considering the game on tonight meaning it was already packed before it got to Petrie, and it was fun watching a 6-car set run empty to wherever right before we left kippa ring

Agreed. It was always going to be extra tight with the EMUs gone. In fact I think there will be ongoing issues until QTMP trains are available. Commissioning of CRR will further stress fleet availability.

If the need to run 3 car services particularly during the peak is regular they might be better off designating certain services as 3 car, like what used to happen a few years ago. This allows passengers to choose to avoid those particular services as desired.

And you can be strategic about it too. Redcliffe services are every 12 mins in the PM for example but there are a couple that shift the frequency by having a 6 min gap. You could put the 3 car train on the one that is after the 6 min gap. Not ideal but better than a service cancellation. Definitely agree putting information out in advance about capacity is a must.

Lot of delays on trains coming from the west this morning - “broken rail around the Goodna area” according to guard. Not ideal when combined with the bus strikes! :grimacing:

wasn’t there track closures done over the weekend to maintain such faults?

They were working just west of Goodna station when I drove past Sunday afternoon.

did they just completely forget about the fault in the rails at goodna?

7NEWS camera crew on site at Eight Mile Plains platform 1 right now. No idea why.

A news spot tonight about the 50c fares story maybe?

I overheard a bit and it’s about the Metro expansion to Brisbane Airport.

2:13 Fakecliffe train had a platform change from 4 to 6 at Central.

Caused by a Ferny Grove train waiting at platform 4 for a lone while, and a 60set just sitting there on platform 3.

Is that Redcliffe or Shorncliffe? Guessing Shorncliffe, because Redcliffe doesn’t usually depart from P4, but sometimes strange things happen…
