Does anyone know roughly what time the train to Pinkenba will pass Sugarmill Rd on Thursday? I didn’t manage to get the day off, but the boss has agreed to let me take a long lunch to go take some pictures (I work about a 5 minute ride from the LX).
I’m taking the steam train to Grandchester tommorrow, I’ll be sure to share some pictures on the forum for you all.
Great job getting translink to do something about this, @rowangray!

Watco binned 2 locomotives on a triangle at Hendon and the recovery operation is under way.
One apparently went onto the triangle of the old Allora branch, and one did not (and continued towards Toowoomba).
Line is closed between Clifton and Toolburra siding until QR can assess and repair.
The old Allora branch triangle is notorious, since it’s where SDSR binned AC16 221A a couple of years ago.
Locos have had to be trucked back to Warwick.
Shorncliffe train halted for some time at Northgate due to police incident at North Boondall station (my local station D:)
When my bus came into Buranda this morning, I noticed a train running overhead featuring what looked to be QR160 signage on it. Has anyone else spotted this?
A car has gone through a railway fence and ended up on the tracks.
So that’s the police incident that caused a delay of the Shorncliffe train.
They really need to fix that maroon trim on the top of that IMU/SMU.
Being done with the refurb afaik. Not sure how long the refurb process is meant to take.
I thought the refurbs outright removed the maroon. Whenever I see the refurbished 60 sets, they always have the grey roof.
Correct. I should have made that more clear in the post above!
That’s what’s weird about that QTMP mock up.
I questioned it too but they were tight lipped about livery changes.
I would like the trim to reflect the new Translink livery that buses also have with turquoise/aqua blue trim with a white first carriage at either end
Lol AI generated with the same peeled paint, identifying the tragic state of the train.
The blue is a bit light should be more like the buses.
I’m perfectly happy for QR to retain their current corporate colours.
The maroon decals on the SMU/IMU sets looked like ass anyways so I’m happy to see them go.
What I would love to see again are the red diagonals like the ones used on the Diesel Tilt Trains. I’m pretty sure the suburban trains carried them at one point!
I’m pretty sure that in terms of cohesive vehicle branding the gold standard here is G:link, with basically every single tram carrying current TL logos, pink decals and everything.
Bringing some of that consistency to the whole network would do wonders.
I agree, the current QR Red does look nicer than the dated maroon.
