The Ipswich train (NGR) that departed after the 3car Springfield train had a very loud buzzing sound coming from its AC unit.
Good thing is that there was no train equivalent of a hull loss.

Trains are pretty much running on time now as I am on one southbound.
Btw, There was no noticeable seismic activity in the Valley this morning.
SMU 270/276 really needs some flange grease. The thing kept screeching as it went around bends, nearly got deaf as it approached South Bank station for a Ferny Grove service.

They probably forgot to. 270/274 was screaming on that bend, casting a demon summoning spell.
I noticed that too coming in and out of Roma Street from South Brisbane. It’s noticeable on some trains more than others. Could be that the newer trains are better insulated from outside noise so it’s less noticeable as well
Apparently this is the maintenance they do on the tracks to reduce screeching.
QR may use rail lubricators to apply a lubricant (or water) along the rail surface in areas prone to squealing. This reduces friction, which is the primary cause of the screeching sound.
Scheduled rail grinding is also part of QR’s maintenance regime. This process smooths the rail surface, optimizing the interface between the wheel and rail, which helps to minimise noise.

Origin destination data can give go card and ticket information down to route level. It currently doesn’t include EMV (smart) ticketing but according to the web site soon will.
