So everyone had to deboard a Nambour train at Central for some reason. The train was just standing there on platform 6. And a Redcliffe train is now stuck behind the Nambour train for a certain amount of time.
Oh goodie itâs one of these afternoons.
Good luck getting home.
So update, the Nambour train got cancelled because of a door fault, and everyone had to deboard. The next Caboolture train was a 3 cat train.
So Caboolture line commuters got kicked out of a 6 car NGR train due to a door fault, and got screwed over by having to cram onto a 3 car 60set. Redcliffe liners also got screwed over because the faulty Nambour train held up everything on platform 6.
Donât worry, I found it a mild inconvenience and only spent like an extra 10 minutes at Central (I boarded the next Redcliffe train after the one that was held up).
Also there are quite a bit of 3 car units going around the network at this hour.
Some years ago during the ârail failâ and reduced timetable era, the 4pm Nambour service seems to get ârecurringâ door problems (when it was operated by an ICE during the ârail failâ timetable period and also ran express between Petrie and Caboolture).
The stations between Dakabin and Morayfield were eventually restored on that particular service post ârail failâ and the ICEs replaced by the SMU260s/IMU160s.
Not surprised this has somewhat returned when the ICE replacements, the SMU260/IMU260s were eventually replaced with the NGRs on this particular run.
Saying all that, did see an unusual amount of 3-car services going around on the suburbans track pair this afternoon, high maintenance backlog (both QR SMU/IMU and NGRs) recently?
Probably to have the trains deep cleaned. I also noticed that a few NGR trains were running with a bright grey livery rather than being tinted with muddy brown. So QR/QTectic is finally bothered to clean their trains after a while which is good news.
Regarding the 3 car services, I know there are probably logistical challenges with this, but why doesnât QR prioritise 3 car services for the lower patronage lines and/or shorter distance and time services? Surely if there is a lack of rollingstock then an obvious candidate to start with 3 car services would be the Doomben line and maybe the Cannon Hill to Northgate shuttles? I just think 3 car Caboolture and Cleveland services is ridiculous.
Canât say Iâve seen this one before. Inbound gympielander with crew issues, terminating at Traveston with buses to shuttle passengers to Nambour.
I also like the use of the word âtrainsâ when itâs literally one service affected ![]()
Maybe a crew member has come down sick?

Update: Sunshine Coast line trains travelling towards Brisbane City from Traveston to Nambour are returning to normal schedule after earlier delays due to a required crew replacement. https://bit.ly/43F6R8I

Probably the most passengers at Traveston for quite a while!
The quicker they move towards a driver only model the better.
Well there is ETCS L1 now between Caboolture and Gympie North. So that means ATP is available, an important precursor for DOO.
That wouldnât help if the single driver got sick though.
Decreases the odds of having no staff though, as they just would need to get a relief driver rather than two or sometimes three extra people.
For all we know, this crew replacement was just organising a relief driver to replace one who came down sick.
Trains have stopped DOWN Ipswich line. Train fault at Booval.

Just transported some pax from Goodna to Darra via horseless carriage.
Plenty of pax waiting for the train at Darra on platform 2/3.
