That is correct, they didnât operate. However, according to the local community Facebook page, this caused quite an issue for some people either working locally or through the holiday, in the areas served by the 572/573 and 574/575.
During the week, the first 572 service to Springwood leaves Hyperdome at 8:45am and the first 574 leaves at 8:30am - all earlier services are 573s and 575s respectively. When you just cancel these services, as what happened yesterday, you become marooned.

Yeah, thatâs not a good thing. Perhaps we should give feedback to Translink regarding this, maybe even a press release? Perhaps they could run short workings instead, terminating at Springwood or Rochedale stations. Now that I think of it, there are some 551/561 stops that donât have any other service.
I might try writing something on the weekend, unless anyone else would rather do it.

Does anyone know if Ipswich and Moreton suffered on Ekka Wednesday? I donât believe there are any buses into the Brisbane CBD from either LGA, so maybe they ran regular timetables?
From my understanding, the Ipswich and Moreton Bay LGAs have their own versions of the Ekka (multiple local versions in the case of MB). Logan and Redlands, on the other hand, donât have their own versions of the Ekka, so they âpiggybackâ (for lack of a better term) off of the Brisbane LGAâs Ekka.

This is correct for Ipswich, which have their own show and show day holiday - this year it was Friday 15th May.
However, Moreton Bay do observe the Ekka holiday on Monday, with a lot of other councils and regions:

Moreton Bay doesnât seem to get a holiday for the local shows (Pine Rivers Show for example was Fri July 31 - Sun August 2nd).

Taken on platform 1 at Roma Street station. I noticed it showed up to 12 platforms (11 and 12 for CRR). Was it like this when it opened last week or is this more recent?

That sign is new.
First proper signage of the CRR platforms I think that are not covered up.

It was like this when the platform opened, but I think the hoarding beneath it may have changed so that you can get closer to it.
There are other bits of signage around the place that reference platforms 11 & 12, but most are still at least partially obscured.

Yeah, I noticed that too a while ago. Like how you might go down the stairs from platform 6/7 and look up, the sign pointing right would say something like âPlatforms 1-5 & 11-12â with the â& 11-12â part covered up but still noticeable if you look closely.

I just went through Central station and we now have the same announcement chime as Sydneyâs rail network. When did that happen ?

Some years ago.
The same chime has been used at G:Link stations from day one, but you generally will not hear it unless there is a âmanualâ announcement.

The announcements at Roma St, Central, and Fortitude Valley have always been manual. Hence, the Sydney chime.
Why couldnât there be automated announcements are Roma St, Central, and Fortitude Valley stations? Bowen Hills stations receives the same rail traffic from the major CBD stations, yet that station has automated announcements.
