This proposed route I’ve quickly drawn up follows most (though not all of the DSCRL alignment), Kawana Shoppingworld and Sunshine Coast University Hospital serves as transfer points (Change to 607, 611 at SCUH). Swapping to/from the the HF-600 at Kawana does require a walk through the Shopping Centre to the Bus Station on Nicklin Way.
Internal Services between Nirimba/Baringa and Caloundra is already served by Routes 604/606.
Interim Rail Feeder to compliment the existing 605/615 in the region following most of the DSCRL alignment.
It would serve the same function as the two mentioned routes, but using Beerwah station instead of Landsborough, and also gives Baringa and Nirimba direct access to Rail Services instead of backtracking to a 605 to Landsborough (which adds travel extra time) or an alternative to driving to Beerwah.
Many of the other suburbs along the DSCRL e.g Caloundra, Maroochydore, etc are already internally covered by the HF-600 and some have half-hourly local services like the SCUH’s 607 and 611.
For now however, the 601 would serve as a rail feeder like the existing two services. Once the DSCRL opens to Caloundra, the 601 would terminate at Nirimba Train Station and increased to a frequent local service (either a minimum half-hourly or optimally a HF-601, Population Growth and Bus Lane Infrastructure Permitting).
Thank you for making this thread, I’m glad I’m not the only person trying to get Beerwah added to the Sunshine Coast’s bus network.
I wrote to Translink a few weeks ago suggesting they extend the 608 Caloundra → Nirimba shuttle to do a loop through Beerwah hourly, however unsurprisingly they gave a less than enthusiastic response.
Having to wait up to 90 minutes to catch a train 5 mins down the road to Landsborough on the weekend so I can connect to a bus is just ludicrous, there are townhouses and units being built throughout Beerwah and demand for PT is rapidly increasing.
