Extra $3 million this financial year to accelerate rollout of full bus driver safety barriers across Queensland following years of neglect under Labor.
Funding will support retrofitting screens to buses in Brisbane and across Queensland to ensure barriers of Australia’s highest safety standard reach every corner of the State.
I think that’s an overreach. By in large trains are safe or at least no less safe than walking around on the street. QPS are barely recruiting above attrition rates so it would be next to impossible to hire the number of extra police you’d need to cover every single train. There’s also a question of morale because as I said by in large trains in safe so you would have some very bored police officers which could lead to unintended consequences (over policing and harrassing people for minor things just to keep themselves busy, for example)
