RACQ Road and PT News

RACQ’s 2024 Travel Speeds Report* revealed a grim trend for congestion on key South East Queensland (SEQ) corridors, sparking urgent calls for a long-term transport plan in the lead up to the 2032 Games and beyond.

To combat our region’s growing pains, RACQ’s Head of Public Policy Dr Michael Kane is calling for a long-term SEQ transport plan to achieve two key objectives; improve our public and active transport networks and upgrade and complete Brisbane’s outer ring of motorways.

We already have a long term plan - Connecting SEQ 2031.

That’s going to give us faster rail on the GC and SC lines, LRT to Coolangatta, rail lines to Flagstone and Ripley, a Paris-style Brisbane subway etc.

Long term plans generally get changed and watered down. A short term plan would be less prone to this and the results would be visible sooner, leading to enhanced accountability.

Shout out to the RACQ spokesperson for chilling out in the 444 terminus at Moggill. The 444 runs every 15 minutes, and 10 mins in peak (supplemented with the 443 rocket).

Just focus on Anstead, Mt Crosby, Chuwar, and Karana Downs, whom rely on a Maxi-cab service ($1-ish per trip), with a max capacity of around 7 people.

The 444 is stellar in comparison…
