Road Network Discussion, Observations and Projects

Just changing the topic for a moment to say that this week I’ve seen BCC Surveyors out and about working around the Rochedale Park n Ride - assumedly in relation to the Gardner Road extension project which will see Gardner Road connected up to Underwood Road, effectively replacing the old School Road connection that was lost when the Metro Depot and Busway annexed parts of School Road.

As a regular user of the Park n Ride, I am greatly looking forward to this project. It should really help reduce the significant congestion that occurs on the two lane Rochedale Road (especially around school time - Rochedale Road currently provides vital access to the 4 separate schools for many locals), and improves park n ride accessibility for residents of Priestdale Road (for example) who may avoid it on account of the Rochedale Road congestion.

After this, all that is left is to complete the Gardner Road connection between Priestdale Road and Miles Platting Road.

It would also mean that bus routes 261, 262, 276, 279, 280, 281, 578, 579 could serve Rochedale station once the Gardner Rd extension is completed in full.

Just saying the obvious should not happen, doesn’t mean such foolish thinking will always prevail!

Good use of what appears to be e-ink IMO
Beats reading hieroglyphics to decipher when you can park

Brought this here from the Olympics thread.

I’m in agreement. CC should’ve been built as a 2 lane each way arterial road, with segregated cycle lanes and footpaths, mostly at-grade intersections, and a maximum speed limit of 70 or perhaps even 60 km/h.

I think the top speed could have still hit 80km (the current CC speed limit) at least in certain areas, the same way that Logan Road does between Eight Mile Plains and Underwood for example. There are long stretches along the CC alignment without any connecting roads that make sense to have a higher speed.

The reference design for the Logan West Upgrade has been released. The upgrade seeks to add an additional lane in each direction of the motorway, upgrade on and off ramps, widen motorway shoulders, and more.

Construction is expected to commence mid-2027 with a completion date prior to 2032. This is a partnership between Transurban and the Queensland Government to upgrade 10km of the Logan Motorway between Camira and Browns Plains.
