No idea when it was done, but the map’s legend now has the same destination as what the train shows I believe for the Gold Coast and Redcliffe, with the map now just Saying Kippa-Ring and Varsity Lakes rather than having them in brackets
Sure has! The most recent map is my favourite though tbh. I feel that it is the most refined.
Now…we need maps thats before 1978…
I haven’t found any before 1980 yet. But if I do, I will post them here.
Yea we got most key turning point post 1978 merivale opening but still missing before that as every single one shows key points
1978 unification
1986 opening of 4 stations
1987 rebuild of Cleveland line
1993 Pinkenba line cuts along with Doboy closure
1996 Gold coast extension
2001 Airport line opening
2009 Varsity Lakes and 2010 Tennyson closure
2011 Springfield extension
2016 Redcliffe extension
2017 Glink addition
Another key era missing would be 1950s before closure of 4 lines - Gold coast, Cleveland, Samford and i think Pinkenba
The old line to the GC was known as the South Coast Line back in the day until its closure in the 1960s.
The huge zig-zag to fit the Sunshine Coast line ![]()
For interest this map is Queensland as it was it 1939. Good to get an idea of the various branch lines. The map can be enlarged at source.
Railway map of Queensland, 1939 / compiled and drawn at the Chief Engineers Office, Railway Department, Brisbane, June 1939
Anyone know if they’ll publish the new maps in advance or have merely forgotten? Still nothing…
8/9 8am - still no new maps. What ARE they adding?
I wouldn’t expect a new map until tomorrow since the office staff at Translink who would swap it over won’t be working on the weekend.
I guess their systems don’t allow something to be switched automatically at a certain time. Certainly archaic.
Maybe holding off til opening of Merrimac station???
Would make sense for printed maps, but no real reason to do that with online ones.
I’d thought Itd be a case of literally changing the grey to yellow on the map - and surprised it wasn’t done on Friday and just given to the team to upload today. It’s been known this was coming for a couple days now
I don’t think the customer service team who does work on Weekends would have the access required to upload and change over the link on the website tbh. You also have to remember that there will be a couple layers of caching too, so it can still take a good while for the PDF to update on the world wide web even after it’s been swapped in their system ![]()
