A discussion regarding the recent Federal Budget and the upcoming state budget and whats in it for Queensland regarding Transport and Infrastructure investment.
Local Council budgets such as Brisbane City Council’s budget can also be discussed in this channel.
$460 million for The Wave (Stage 1), but it still short by $4.64 billion. Might be enough money to get something to Aura, but not enough for the entire line.
$567 million for CRR, still short by $824 million. Construction has been classed as completed. Total cost of CRR is $9.825 billion, assuming this is their bogus revision of CRR.
The North Brisbane Tunnel, Gold Coast Transport Plan, Wave Stage 2, Wave Stage 3 are not funded. The non-sense about “contract not awarded” is suspicious.
Keep in mind that the amounts allocated in the budget relate only to what has been allocated to the projects for the next 12 months, it’s not the entire budgeted amount for the projects. As for the Wave Stage 1, that section is only the line as far as Caloundra anyway (effectively the section that Labor had planned to deliver). Caloundra to Birtinya is Stage 2.
The disclaimer about Contract not Rewarded is standard - you can’t fund the construction of a project until you have signed a contract with a builder which sets in stone the cost of the project, and you can’t do that until you have completed pre-construction planning works. Stage 1 had a leg up on this because of the work undertaken under Labor.
Perhaps for the construction phase, but all pre-construction planning works associated with a project must still show up as expenditure towards that project.
Not showing how much money has been allocated to the pre-construction planning work design phase simply because contracts are not signed for the construction phase is bulllshit.
What’s with the Chermside bus station construct southbound platform on the list? I assume it’s referring to the interchange, but I’m not sure if it’s for stops C, D and E or for the stops outside on Hamilton Rd.
