Hi all, We’re compiling a list of the the bus stops and platforms in Qld that are the hottest because they need shade or shelter or a better shelter design for the conditions, or the paths that connect to the bus, train, tram or ferry. I’d love your input of recommended locations. Thanks! Tomorrow is Extreme Heat Awareness Day and we’re highlighted the need for shade protection in the places where we walk and where we wait. Cheers!
Platforms 3/4 at Bowen Hills station are pretty dreadful for the patronage it gets - there’s some shelter, but the sun comes in at an angle and means the shelter doesn’t actually do anything during both peaks. Sunshine station also lives up to its name with essentially zero shade, as do most of the inner north stations
Excellent. Thanks so much. Great suggestions. We already had Bowen Hills Station but aren’t specific yet about which platforms. We will add Sunshine Station. I haven’t personally stopped at this station, so will have to add it to the list. Campaign page is here: Baked Before Boarding - Queensland Walks

Nudgee station should be on the list!
By no means the worst (Thanks to some nearby trees and space behind the shelter) but I’ve got a fair few photos over the years of Cavendish Road at Emlyn St (Inbound) on Route 185 which has a useless shelter during the morning peak when most of the stop’s usage would be. Doesn’t do anything for the sun and isn’t much use in the rain either.
I imagine most of the southside’s inbound stops on roads facing north/east would have similiar issues.
Quite depressing when you compare it to the coverage of the original shelter back when site specific designs were a thing.
My morning stop is Greenslopes Mall. Everybody stuffs themselves in the narrow gap between the back of the shelters and the fence behind to keep the sun off.
We should be orienting stops to provide meaningful shelter.
