Transport Project Costs and Funding - Incl. (PPP, BOT, DBFO)

This is an interesting example where Madrid explicitly simplified its plans, had a small team of engineers plan the network and stations, and eliminated large sums spend on consultants etc.

It’s a great system which was built quickly and cheaply.

An excellent project costs deep dive video. Also covers Perth and how it achieved half the per-km costs that east coast states did.

Something I want to ask people on the forum who have been here in Brisbane longer than I have, it is pretty well known that induced demands for roads is absolutely a thing that happens in the vast majority of cases but I think Brisbane toll roads might be an example of that not being the case with projects like the Clem7, airportlink, and go between bridge both bankrupting the companies that funded them and not being anywhere near as highly trafficked as they were expected to be, I feel overall this was probably good as it seems to have prevented more car infrastructure in the form of tollways from being built. If someone here knows something more I would like to hear their take on my intuitions.
