oh so it is a nimby meeting!

As it would seem. If anyone is local to the area, I would encourage you to attend to provide an alternative view point.

As someone who grew up in Wynnum, I’ve thought for a long time that the Wynnum CBD has so much potential and is already connected to transport links. Hopefully there won’t be any NIMBY derailments…

Hopefully if a plan like this moves forward that removing the level crossing on Florence Street will be part of the picture. I also think elevating the rail line to over Pine Street and Berrima Street will also improve the roading links which will also be good for bus connections.

The whole stretch from Wynnam North to Pine Street is a good candidate for a skyrail level crossing removal project. 4 level crossings and 2 low clearance bridges.

Agreed. I reckon a 3 platform station at Wynnum Central would be a good option too if they decide they’re keeping outer Cleveland line express services, and all station services could terminate at Wynnum Central.

What’s the rationale for terminating at Wynnum Central rather than Lota, other than that it saves a little bit of running time?

Sure it’s single track past Manly today, but duplication of the outer line is an even higher priority than skyrailing the Wynnum stretch (I suppose there’s a case for doing it all at once to minimise shutdown time).

My thinking was that if Wynnum is developed into a higher density centre with potentially more work and other travel demand, then having the services revolving around Wynnum Central treats it as like an interchange station. If bus services connecting to Carindale and other places terminated there too it could be a good option.

Of course the Manly to Cleveland duplication is a must and is the higher priority. I was just thinking about if a plan like that for Wynnum goes ahead it would be great to ensure the transport options match as well. But I can also see the merit in no express services with more frequent all station services.

I do think it makes good sense for the expresses to stop at Wynnum Central - it seems to be much more useful as a location and transport hub than Manly (which is only the changeover point because of the infrastructure in place rather than any solid other reason).

And whenever the Cleveland line is duplicated, I wonder if an all day pattern could be Cleveland - City running express from Wynnum Central to Cannon Hill, and all stations Wynnum Central to City.
