I’ve said it previously, but I am 99% convinced that the 2029 date the LNP is referring to is when all CRR related projects will finish. The tunnels will obviously open earlier and the LNP absolutely knows it. They’re no doubt trying to mislead the public for political gain.
A works notice has gone out today announcing the start of removing the Acoustic Shed at Albert Street:
Mary Street – Traffic Changes to Remove Acoustic Shed
From Monday 28 April 2025, lane closures will be in place on Mary Street for approximately two weeks to allow a mobile crane to safely remove the front sections of the Lot 2 acoustic shed.
Work Details
- Removal of the Lot 2 acoustic shed began in late March 2025.
- Temporary lane closures are required to remove shed sections near the street using a mobile crane.
Ongoing work involves:
- Unbolting sections of the roof using oxy cutters and rattle guns. Roof sections will then be removed using cranes and trucks.
- Separating pre-cast concrete wall sections using concrete saws, shears and oxy cutters.
- Where possible, wall and roof sections will be removed in single pieces via trucks.
- Where wall sections are too large, these will be relocated to a stockpile within the shed to be demolished mechanically by excavators with jackhammer attachments
For more information about ongoing work to remove the acoustic shed, please refer to the works notification.
What to Expect
- Increase in noise, dust and vibration associated with the use of heavy machinery and equipment including but not limited to rattle guns, concrete saws, shears, oxy cutters and excavators
- An increase in construction workers and vehicles in the area.
- Changes to traffic and pedestrian routes.
Every effort will be made to minimise the impact of this work on businesses, residents and commuters.
Traffic Changes
From 28 April 2025 for about two weeks:
- Lane closures next to Lot 2 with one lane open each way under traffic control.
- Existing eastbound lane closure at Lot 1 remains in place.
- Access between Mary and Albert streets will be maintained under direction of traffic control.
- The footpath in front of the Lot 2 acoustic shed will remain closed. Pedestrian access will be available on the opposite side of Mary Street.
- Access to properties on Mary Street will be maintained
Please see map below for more information.
Did everyone notice that they have updated their YouTube videos with 3D progress videos inline with the new pics they have also posted.
Now on dialysis, I’m in the building 3 days a week right next door to the Boggo Road build, so I’m getting to see how Boggo Road is progressing on a week to week basis right outside my window while I wile away the time on the machine…at least until I get a new transplant (hence my lack of posts over the past month or two - sorry about that, kidney disease is a nasty thing).
No need to apologise! You’ve gotta concentrate on your health first!
I went past the Albert Street site today and noticed some mature trees being placed as part of the new street scaping project coinciding with the CRR project.
The lnp just know it will be hard to hold onto government after a single term and want to throw as much dirt onto labor as possible. What’s why they are claiming it has been delayed to 2029
^^This thread is intended for a focused discussion on the project’s merits and critiques. Let’s maintain a productive environment by keeping our comments centered on the project itself, its timelines, and its potential impact, rather than diverting into political party rhetoric or ideological debates. Such discussions can detract from the core purpose of evaluating the project on its own terms
One thing i’ve found helpful is to talk about red team, blue team, green team, etc.
This isn’t a BTQ policy or expectation, but something I do personally in my own posts so that a policy can be openly discussed without sounding like i’m promoting or demoting any particular party.
If it’s helpful, members are welcome to give this approach a try.
I saw a post on Reddit that Exhibition station is to open on June 4 - I’m assuming for special events until CRR is open. Has anybody heard anything similar?
If that’s the case it will be good to have Ekka services up and running again.
It’s for the Qld Caravan & Camping Supershow:
AVOID THE TRAFFIC & PARKING HASSLES! BUY YOUR TICKETS ONLINE AND TRAVEL FREE TO/FROM BRISBANE SHOWGROUNDS from any station on the Queensland Rail Citytrain Network including north from Gympie, west from Rosewood, south from Varsity Lakes and all Brisbane Stations to either Roma, Central or Fortitude Valley Train Station then connect to the FREE loop services for the short journey direct to NEW Exhibition Station which in the heart of Brisbane Showgrounds.
Thanks for posting the update
The station was on track to open for that event and the Ekka this year. Yet, it’s only temporary for those events until Cross River Rail tunnel is commissioned. The Ekka station platforms are also getting extended to their full length potential.
Previously, the Ekka station was only open 3 times a year for Caravan and Camping twice a year and the Ekka. It was never open for concerts nor the 4x4 or other events there. See what happens if they open for more events pre CRR?
