Cross River Rail (CRR)

I would like it to become a full time service extended from Boggo Road to RBWH via Kangaroo Point, the Storey Bridge and Fortitude Valley Station on Brunswick St.

Essentially being a Station link from RBWH to Salisbury via Kangaroo Point.

Then MP for South Brisbane Jackie Trad ran a campaign to Save Dutton Park station (along with Saving various bus routes)…

Are they TfB or TMR buses? If the latter, they might get sent to Logan for replacements during LGCFR project.

The Stationlink buses are TFB so my guess would be they will be repainted back into the standard blue/yellow/white once the stationlink route comes to an end.

They seem to use local operators for stationlink services. KBL have run the equivalent for Caboolture line accessibility upgrades in the past.

I’d be very surprised if Clark’s have enough spare buses to do it. I’m led to believe they are close to full fleet utilisation during peak hours.

Part of the reason Cross River Rail got delayed aside from Union crap and a boofhead LNP transport minister, was Combustible cladding. It was originally installed and then they had to replace it due to new laws banning it. Combustible cladding led to both Grenfell Tower in 2017 and last years Hong Kong Apartment tower incidents. Imagine how much worse that would be in an underground space like cross river rail. That said though 2029 is still quite late

But the current design of CRR was finalised in 2019, a good 2 years after the Grenfell inferno? Surely after they recieved the news of the burning tower, they would understand that the cladding that they used will be unsuitable (at best) for building underground train stations.

Indeed. Do you have a source for this? I’ve never heard anything about combustible cladding in CRR

Yes agreed. Is there a source that would shed any light on this?

I’ve actually heard the exact opposite, that the architects/builders/etc especially chose a non-combustible cladding option for station designs.

oh my god what on earth is this

At least this article was written in 2017 shortly after the alarms of Grenfell. So anyone will at least be competent enough not to involve anything flammable in crucial infrastructure where civilian’s lives are at stake after that year.

I haven’t heard anything about CRR using any type of flamable cladding, nor have I seen or heard of any external cladding being installed, then removed and replaced. This is the kind of thing the unions and the Courier Mail would have been screaming about from the rooftops, but I can’t find any reference to.

There was reportedly an issue with some Pyropanel/Assa Abloy fire resistent doors supplied to the site, but this was related to having been contaminated with asbestos-containing materials.

100% this is what rules it out as being possible for me. No way CFMEU wouldn’t have made a big deal about it.

Yeah but the investigations were still ongoing and the gov here was slow at implementing those restrictions

That too. And also silica dust which is also now banned in Queensland.

Where did you get this info about flammable cladding in CRR stations from?

It’s my understanding the new Roma Street Bus Station will open May/June as i’ve just reported through SEQTA.

I’ve been saying similarly for a while but i’m hearing from a few sources that it’s basically set in stone.

Full media release (through SEQTA) is available at End in sight for Roma Street chaos as new bus platforms set to open ~ SEQTA Press although there’s not really any extra information

Super cool to see us edge closer to Cross River Rail! :raised_fist:

Finally we have official confirmation that the Sector 1 pairing will be fully Coast to Coast, with direct services between the Gold and Sunshine Coasts via the CRR tunnels, The Wave and LGCFR. I imagine this means that the other pairing is also confirmed as being Redcliffe and Beenleigh.

This new rail route will also have capacity to run increased express services, and as they pass through Brisbane, passengers will benefit from new underground stations in convenient locations.

Based on the network map in the new animation, it also appears that the Caboolture Line (in Name) will cease to exist once CRR opens. I suppose time will tell whether this means the Caboolture terminators will all run through to the Sunshine Coast or whether it’ll be treated like the Cleveland Line.

Do you know what they plan on doing with the current platform 1 after the new one opens?
