Cross River Rail (CRR)

Question for once CRR opens, will Cleveland recieve the capacity to run more expresses in peak?

I’m trying to work out if there is as there will be more space without Beenleigh/Gold Coast in the Boggo-South Brisbane section of the line, however although with CRR comes the new QTMP fleet boosting fleet numbers however there will only be IMU & SMUs on the line, and maybe one or two NGRs going to Doomben potentially.

Post CRR the Cleveland line has the South Bank stretch to itself, so that’s no limitation.

The thing with expresses though is that you’ve only got two passenger tracks, so an express has to fit between two all-stops trains and hence can only really save a few minutes.

I believe the only limitation stopping them from adding more is the rollingstock fleet IIRC and the only reason we got counter-peak expresses is due to the conversion of non-revenue services into passenger services though, so if they’re getting more rollingstock it could be on the table I guess (?)

The current Busway Platform 1 is very much a temporary structure. It’s awful, and I hope when the new one opens it gets bulldozed

I’d have to imagine it gets bulldozed and integrated into the Roma Street Plaza

I’m not so sure about that. Going by this aerial from the CRR Roma Street Station page, it looks like the current platform forms part of the full new platform.

Roma street busway P1 is still staying…its just the access to and from will be changed eventally.

Have the busway platforms themselves been given a major upgrade along with the access to them, much like the Cultural Centre platforms ?

Nothing yet, at the moment the access is worse. I don’t actually know what the final outcome for the busway platforms will look like

Updated Boggo Road station building and surrounds. (Taken today).

Note that the landscaping and paving will likely start once the site office is taken down.

Access to the new pedestrian and cycle bridge from the station precinct

Why are these CRR stations such extravagant buildings so far out of style and proportion to the rest of the network?

It’s not like you’ll descend into them and find some magnificent Metro service arriving every few minutes. It’ll be standard QR services probably not even at 15 minute all day frequencies.

Agreed. It just inflates the station cost so much. Boggo Road is by far my least favourite for this. Enormous station entrance building, totally unnecessary, and not even connected to the existing platforms

Especially when the design at Boggo Road doesn’t even integrate well with the rest of the station…

Families of CRR staff having a station walkthrough today in the underground section, saw it as I was heading into the station, and the main entrance has shifted a bit to the left since I last used it

Just saw it too while transferring to the 444.. They were guided up via platform 1 and back down the other side into the underground station building.

I hope we get a look around along with other groups on a Sunday.

P.s. Platform 1 pretty much finished with new PIDs installed and cladding complete.

Is there going to be a general public tour or the likes soon since they’re running this today? Curious to see what lies beneath so far

Who knows but it’s likely. I assume a public open day similar to what they did with the Adelaide St tunnel?
