It’s understandably quite inconvenient, but I had to laugh at people who seem to think this shouldn’t have happened due to recent closures, or blame it on recent closures. I don’t recall either Roma St or Carseldine being closed recently.
Signal faults plague Queensland Rail with delays almost every day.
Signalling faults have disrupted South East Queensland rail services almost daily, with new analysis revealing 29 instances of delays across just 27 days.
Another day…
SPRINGFIELD LINE: Customers, due to a double trip of the overhead line equipment between Corinda and Darra, services are currently suspended in both directions between Springfield Central and Darra on the Springfield line.
Rail replacement buses have been requested however are not yet in operation.
We are anticipating delays of up to 60 minutes for customers travelling in both directions between Springfield Central and Darra.
Our crews are currently onsite and we will continue to keep you updated. We appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this issue and are online to assist you
Jeez more overhead signal issues….would ects2 reduce amount of these faults???
It was an OHLE issue, not a signal issue. Please try not to conflate the two. They are quite separate.
No.
Honestly, with all those disruptions going on, QR should really take that time to trial certain service improvement on certain lines and corridors is possible. With the Airport line being paired up with the Cleveland line, they should try running Airport services every 15min all day, having half the services terminating at Cannon Hill or
Manly
, with the rest of them continuing to Cleveland. This is how they provide 15min frequencies between Northgate and Cannon Hill, so why not try out 15min frequencies all day on the Airport line when through-running with the Cleveland line?
Don’t know if the industrial action will severely impact the possibility of this happening, but during normal conditions, the airport line should be running ever 15min all day, especially considering that there is a random blip of 15min frequencies from 1200-1330; proving that they can run 15min frequencies whenever.
Wdym ETCS won’t solve the ongoing signalling faults? Isn’t it a completely separate signalling to the faulty legacy traffic-light setup we currently have?
Sorry, I should have been clearer. I meant it won’t solve OHLE faults, such as the one that disrupted the Springfield line this week.
I’ve always put forward that they should use rigid catenary from Bowen Hills right through to Roma Street to minimise disruptions. Using this at junctions where there are many crossover points would be ideal as well.
They should also bolt the track on concrete slabs from Bowen Hills to Roma Street as well. This will minimise unnecessary maintenance closures in the future.
I thought the pairing was Shorncliffe this weekend? Did someone mistype something ![]()
Ah yes, to Springfield Central:
EDIT: They adjusted it… but still haven’t fixed the destination!
@alexjago THE CLEVEWICH IS REAL
Genuinely wondering how someone stuffed up this badly on a service update ![]()
They’re not even near each other on the map at all

NRL Magic Round is 14 to 17 May and sees all games that round played at Suncorp, plus the Women’s state of origin.
Insane that it takes a million dollar business hosting their sporting event to make the Queensland Government/QR to realise they’re screwing us all over
It was wonderful to hear an automated announcement about the lift outage at Central on the Caboolture train as we approached Roma Street this morning. I know some members have issue with the incessant number length and number of announcements, but I hope we can all agree that announcements for temporary changes are a positive!
Another day, another service issue - back to my regular bus not showing and the follow-up service being 10+ mins late. I’m very lucky to be able to WFH (and have an understanding boss!) but if I had to go in every day I would genuinely be thinking about a car right now. I really do not understand how BCC is able to get the schedule this messed up considering I’m less than 10 minutes away from the route terminus.
And I thought the busway-connection announcements are bad. The Central lift-outage announcement is a million times worsa than that.
The central lift outage is temporary though and it is a change from what customers expect. I see no issue with it personally.
