With a bit of a change. The screen looks quite different (at Runcorn at least—I was going to use it, but the train arrived), and now refers to “account” instead of go card. Signs that a replacement is on the way?

Does it have the new ticket machine UI?
It looked very different, so I’m going to say yes. I meant to have a look when I got off, but forgot, and can’t be bothered walking back to the station.
I’ll have a look tomorrow morning, and hopefully get a pic.

Looking back at the photos, seems like account was used pre-maintennance. Maybe working on it BTS over the weekend? Guessing Beenleigh (and maybe Gold Coast) now have the new UI alongside Cleveland, Springfield and Ipswich lines.
Still down this morning, although trains are running to Darra now.

QR FB: UPDATE 5:45am Tuesday 14 July: Customers, services remain suspended in both directions between Ipswich and Darra due to ongoing repairs following an overhead power line issue at Redbank yesterday. Rail replacement buses remain in operation between Ipswich and Darra with delays of up to 60 minutes anticipated for customers travelling between these stations.
The Springfield line is operational as an alternative that may suit some customers. Thank you for your continued patience as our teams work as quickly and safely as possible to resolve this issue and we will continue to keep you updated.

This must have been a major dewirement. Taking a while to repair. I wonder if the present industrial situation is affecting.

Answer: yes.
More nuanced answer: yes. Heck, the former civic cabinet chair for public transport (Peter Matic) was known for regularly catching the 61glider from his office in Paddington to City-Hall.

They all use the trains and buses when it suits them, especially if a camera crew are there.

Can’t comment on any others, but I know for certain Mark Bailey uses the train, at least sometimes. I’ve seen him on it a few times, no cameras around.
His office is just across the road from Yeerongpilly Station, so it makes sense for him to use it to commute from their to Parliament. Not sure where he lives, or how he gets to/from the office.

I’ve also seen Michael Berkman (Cr for Maiwar) on the train more than a few times, as well as a few federal members/senators. At the end of the day they do have to commute around like the rest of us commoners, and public transport is simply better suited for that purpose.

Weird one. A new 7/11 is being built just outside toowong station, where the BWS was. The construction barrier they have put up is IMO very excessive for how far out of the store it protrudes, and at one point leave only a gap of a bit over 1m in the main throughfare between the station and the the shoppig centre. It will cause issues with congestion.

I haven’t seen it in person, but it could be due to their needing to change out the shopfront - many 7Elevens install night time windows to the shopfronts to allow the store to trade safely late at night.
