This sounds like a much better idea, to use existing fleet stock from wherever reasonable rather than unnecessarily adding another order and not having a certain future for the vehicles. I’d rather the government be savvy about this idea as I can understand the need to provide high quality public transport along the whole route to the airport but without having the time or labor force to do so before 2032 at this point, so this would be a very acceptable compromise, in my view.
When I first rode our metro, I thought it was terrible. Felt cheap in quality compared to a tram, train or even a regular bus.

Agreed - although the obsession seems to be limited to the powers that be. Frustrates me how out of touch politicians of all stripes are with reality.

Oh look at that, the NIMBYs killing the light rail didn’t give them the low-rise paradise they envisioned. Now they’ll have high-rise anyway, just with worse traffic. If only someone could have foreseen this outcome!

Was heavy rail an option? Complete the Varsity Lake to Coolangatta/Airport dual tracks … if not stage 4 light rail then at least finish the heavy rail line.

Was on the coast over the weekend, and while not an extensive observation period all the G’s I saw only had advertising wraps confined to middle carriages with regular GLink yellow and blue branding on the rest.
Does anyone know if this a welcome deliberate change from the moving billboard visual pollution of full length wraps or just a fluke of what I happened to see?
Just a fluke as there are a few trams with All Over Advertising (number 15 for Griffith Uni for example).

Be good if hr gets to cooly while glink gets to varsity if they dont wanna do stage 4 as buses can go from like robina via pac pines, pbc and cooly replacing the 777 to avoid competing against the tram/train lines in some parts
Reporting from always gorgeous Mermaid: stations are basically finished with electrical equipment, crossings, bus stops and most things now fully in place.

The issue I see with this, is that people may confuse it with location the (inaccurately-named) North Burleigh SLSC.
Nowhere near North Burleigh, but agree it’s a mouthful.
This is up there with the Wynnum trio for silly names
I disagree - it very clearly indicates where the stop is and even about how far away it is if you were at, for example, Fourth Avenue.

I wonder if that means they’ll have some short workings at times? Maybe a place to store a tram temporarily between full-length services passing through?
