NGRs have been running on the Gympie North line for a while in this year…
You’d want to BYO cushion to sit on for an NGR ride to Gympie North…![]()
Queensland Rail launches new trial to drive down bridge strikes
There have been 77 bridge and 271 protection beams struck on the South East Queensland (SEQ) rail network by over-height vehicles so far in 2025.
Beams are good in that they protect the bridges themselves from strikes, but the consequences are still serious.
“Every rail bridge or protection beam strike puts lives at risk and causes major disruption for rail customers and impacts to road users,” he said.
Unfortunately I’m not sure it will make a difference.
They appear visually the same as a school zone warning - although of course it says low bridge instead, but if they don’t read the signs why will they read this?
I drove over the one pictured, looking for something as I’d heard QR was doing something, and nearly missed it.
And for context to highlight this, there is a school zone on Pine St already with the road marking only about 5 houses earlier.
- Pink - Pine st bridge
- Yellow - new low bridge road marking
- Orange - existing school zone road marking
Comparison showing similarities
The only real solution to reducing bridge strikes is to actually elevate the Cleveland line by building elevated rail. No matter how many warnings about the low bridge they provided, the there will still be a tonne of bridge strikes. Melbourne’s Montague St is a very good example of that.
X: Route M1 and M2 will be temporarily missing Roma Street busway, platform 2 due to staff availability. https://bit.ly/3YMiiIM
??
Isn’t that one of the major interchange points? ![]()
Well, that’s some nonsense (not your post , the service alert). Since when are staff required for the M services to stop at busway stations (other than the drivers, obviously, who would be there whether they stop it bypass it)?

Why are PIDs at Indooroopilly so bad? Had to ask a station staff member. The normal PIDs are in the wall in the underpass, not handy if you’re in a rush ![]()
Is it just me, or is that the wrong shade of blue? It looks like Sandgate/Cleveland colour, not Kippa-Ring/Springfield Central.
That was my thoughts reading the PID
Good old dot matrix displays right there.
Today i was on route 61 from stone corner
Expected kgs but nope due to congestion in tunnels linking qsm,kgs ard 12.20?
Got dropped off at qsm
Interesting
The 61 is routed through and stops at QSBS outbound towards ashgrove. But uses KGS/city hall and the adelaide street tunnel towards stones corner. I’d put alot of money on it being that way because of the 385 permament change to QSBS and to help maintain a bit better frequency between roma street and bardon. Along with having the 385 be express to bardon in peak hour and the 61 taking over the inner stops.
As a regular 61 patron I can confirm northbound currently uses QSBS. Southbound uses KGSBS. Seems confusing to me, but there it is.
Confusing is what QLD does best…
Is there other lines that only use kgs for one direction and qsm for other?
Finished work, opened phone and found my service suspended. Trains suspended between Lindum and Manly
