There are still cattle trains? I haven’t seen (or smelled) one in at least twenty years!
Aurizon pulled the plug when QR freight was privatised, but Watco have been doing it for a few years, expanding from their grain operations. Their maintenance hub is in Warwick (where I live), so most of town is aware when they’re heading out to Dalby or places on the NCL to pick up cattle. But there’s on a couple of places in the suburban network where cattle can be disembarked. Holmview is one of them, but they have their own loop/siding there for the sale yards.
From memory, the Holmview portion of LGCFR will actually include an upgrade of the cattle siding, so it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
Separately, I know Teys have a DA in front of LCC for upgrades to their facility that may increase the amount of product that they can produce and store, so they’re not going anywhere anytime soon either.
I’m a little surprised the cattle train went there in the middle of the day. I used to live quite close to the railway line, and I often heard them going past fairly late at night.
Beenleigh line off peak currentlyy has plently of NG capacity for non passenger services. Essentially its own track from salisbury to kuraby. Loops at kingstson and bethania.
This morning, the first bus that turned up for me at Rochedale was a 545, which I (and a number of other people) caught for one stop to 8MP to get the M1. The 545 was pretty packed - it might be time for Translink to consider pumping up the frequency for the route, even if it is just for peak to begin with.

Tablet mounts are being installed on Eagle Farm buses. I’ve heard murmurs about digital route navigation being installed on BCC buses, so I imagine the tablets will be used for navigation.
I wonder if they will solve the issue of turning left onto the inner northern busway at roma street when on a 444, 385 or 61.
Doesn’t the 444 go into the Roma Street busway entrance from Skew St?
Boom.
Not too satisfied with how Boggo will end up (underground plats 1/2, then busway 3/4, then rail 5-8???) but the others are solid.
CRR in 2029 they tell us but drop the maps way earlier.
I do not see why Buranda and South Bank needed it IMO
I heavily disagree: South Bank and Buranda absolutely needed to get different numberings to avoid confusion between both systems.
Can you elaborate on that as I don’t see the need or the benefit in making changes at Buranda or South Bank, but maybe I’m misunderstanding something.
I know all stations have busway attached, but still don’t understand why the need for change.
Buranda and South Bank busways aren’t in the same complex as Boggo Road per se, so I don’t get why TL felt the need to change them. Unless they want to incorporate blanket branding “South Bank Station” “Boggo Road Station” “Buranda Station” and drop the Busway Station from their names
That’s probably the reason if I had to guess.
I’m not sure how if you’re at the busway station at South Bank it will make any sense that you’re on platforms 4 or 5. Other than the small walkway to platform 3 down at street level and across there’s no obvious physical connection between the two.
Buranda maybe slightly better situation as at least they have a common access point off OKeefe st.
Boggo Road the station locality map doesn’t make sense with no platforms 1 and 2 (future CRR) pictured or even referenced. And were told that will be in place for 3 more years?!
…to help prepare for future network upgrades.
That stated rationale only applies to Boggo Road. There are no known future network upgrades that affect South Bank or Buranda.
Poorly explained and justified changes. They may make sense to transport enthusiasts but I doubt it will to most the general travelling public you have a clear distinction in the mind between a train station and a busway station.
I think this is something the RATLR forum has been working on for a good while, so in general I’m very much in favour of it.
Agreed, this is nonsense. CRR should be P7/8. Would reduce costs from having to renumber everything, too.
The train nerd in me also expects platform 1 to be an up platform, so I don’t really love that platform 1 (assumedly) will be the Down CRR platform.
