The 1.38pm outbound 252 just had its go card readers have a failure and get stuck on the please wait screen. Its real time is also offline.
Time to apply for a fare adjustment… since I can’t tap off!

Any outages to smart ticketing/GTFS today due to the Telstra implosion? I noticed my bus had ‘free bus today’ stuck to the smart ticketing readers but that’s a pretty normal Kinetic Sunshine Coast experience.
Not sure if it related to smart ticketing or my phone given I had no service (I am with Telstra) but express transit mode on iPhone was not working with the card reader this morning at Milton station.
There was some, particularly outside the SEQ network (Cairns, Wide Bay and Stradbroke)
I think QLD faired reasonably well. In terms of realtime data, Sydney was quite heavy impacted as was SA and ACT.
I had no issues tapping or off this morning using a go card, on both rail and TfB bus.
So was Vic. The entire V/Line rail network was cancelled, and getting replacement coaches was problematic, as you might imagine. Drivers away from the depot with mobiles on the Telstra network couldn’t be contacted.
Freight across the entire ARTC network was also stopped.
So, the Hunter coal network, Hunter Line passenger trains, and basically everything running north of Hexham on the (NSW) North Coast Line, and south of Macarthur on the Southern Line, and interstate freight across the country, was stopped.
I guess QR’s private network turned out to be helpful today.
Most trains are stabled out of Robina for VL services, particularly now with the Banoon closures.
They could easily run those Special runs as revenue ones in counterpeak but no one at QR or translink is brave enough to even consider it.
Probably a matter of what if the network screws itself and we need backups.
Silly given ~30 minutes on a reduced line is ample time to achieve 15 minute headways
Transdev readers were more finnicky that usual yesterday; might’ve been related or just translink being translink
TransLink seem to have learnt from past congestion on Gabba game day- seeing a lot of articulated buses on Gabba shuttle routes.
Have they learned to send a couple via the South bank before the game instead of just relying on the surprisingly few, all non articulated/tag buses that run through the CC and south bank to wooloongabba.
I saw two arctic shuttles heading inbound through Buranda about 10 minutes apart from each other this afternoon.
Do arctics fit through Cultural Center and Queen St/KGS tunnels?
The Metros do…
Looked like Mt Gravatt had been through the wars - on top of this there were several taped off benches on the same platform.
Just had my ticket/go card checked by a network officer on an M2 immediately departing the RBWH. Id never seen people dressed like this and then i saw they were from hornibrook bus lines and it was their network officers.
Very odd to see them this far down. Only ever been checked by senior network officers, police and g:link staff.
Also the metro vehicle im on doent have the screen or annoucements working so the driver is doing next stop announcements.
I’ve been checked multiple times by Kinetic GC staff (at least once every couple weeks) alongside the once every blue moon SNO.
G:link staff is in general quite strict at it, with crews around the line at all times of the day (which also helps to ensure safety for passengers).
I still see the Clarks ones getting around the network, but perhaps not quite so often since the 50c fares started. They’re definitely still out there though.
Not sure if this is the right thread, but I didn’t want to create a standalone in the Central Queensland section for a single notice.
I came across this on socials today. Interesting they call it a ‘delay’ instead of a cancellation when the next scheduled service is timetabled for 70 minutes later.
It would have been a 3 hour gap between services as the previous service was scheduled at 1.43 from Emu Park. The following timetabled service was 4.30. Also given this route in particular services the local primary schools, as well as the secondary schools in Yeppoon, not the best solution having them stranded for over an hour. This is the unfortunate reality of regional bus services with low frequency and limited resources.
I think Youngs/CDC has double the patronage of the Rockhampton/Kinetic network, and every service I’ve caught down to the coast has been well patronised. I wish TMR would do a network review to potentially increase span of hours and even a small bump in frequency to hourly. Personally, given the option I’d much rather commute by PT to my place of employment, however as the last service leaves at 7pm, not an option unfortunately.
